Need advice: How to do night shots
Need advice: How to do night shots
I was at a car meet last night shooting a bit and I noticed I was having a real hard time pulling decent shots out of the darkness. Not only were the lights playing havoc on my colours, my exposure was always off. I don't think I've ever had a real problem with something like this. I was shooting with my 18-70 Nikkor and usually I shoot my 30mm f/1.4 Sigma. Perhaps I should stick with the Sigma?
Any advice or help on shooting night scenes would be much appreciated.

I use spot metering most of the time, which helps get the exporsie levels better. Wode open and a higher ISO for quick crisp shots, or step down the iris (aperature) and lower the ISO to get some motion effects and more vibrant colors and less noise (but prone to more blurryness). Hope it helps; do you have some samples of what you're having diffuculty with (make sure you don't erase the EXIF data)?
