a rim/tire weight question

I was looking at a set of tires and rims a guy has for sale and I wanted to know what the rims weigh. He wieghed the tire and rim and said 34 lbs.

what does a 205/45/17 tire weigh appr. so I can subtract and calculate the rim weigh.

Tire weights are all over the map, really... could be as little as 19 pounds or as much as 26... 34 pound combined weight is pretty daggone light for a 17" setup. My guess is that the wheels weigh 12-14 pounds.

the rims are Sparco ds1

I have searched high and low and could find weight info on rim.

According to Discount Tire, the 18" version is 23 lbs.

Maybe e-mail them since they seem to carry them.

Falken doesn't make a 205/45R17 in the RT-615... did you mean 205/40R17? If so, they're 19.4 pounds...

Wheels will be about 15 pounds then?

I shipped a set of ASA AR1's w/ 215/45/17 Avon's last week and they were ~45lbs. I believe the ASA's are about 21lbs, and the tire was about 24lbs, pretty standard. 34lbs sounds reallly light, maybe too light if the 18" is 23lbs :impatient

34 lbs is excellent for a 17" wheel/tire combo. Racing sparco is a pretty decent brand actually too, they are manufactured by Crimson, a japanese company. I have the NT-R's on my mazda3, and they are 15.3 lbs for 17". With my 21 lbs tires, my combo is slightly heavier, but I'm runnig 215/45-17's. . .

Hmm.. maybe the 18 is 23lbs shipped.

I went to Racing Sparco's site an translated it from Japanese. Nothing on weights. They do only list those wheels as 4x114.3 though.. hmmm. Lots of cool finishes available though.

just to share- the tires are 215/40x17 and weigh 21.2 lbs - the wells arived today and combined weight was 43 lbs so the rims weigh 21.8 lbs - NOT the number I was shooting for BUT I picked up 4 Sparco DS1 rims with Falken Avenis RT615 (autocrossed once) for 630 bucks - mounted, balanced and with center rings !

I'll get over it

hmm Jen you seem to know a lot about wheels what are you running, for your gallery wheels are stock. other than that your cute!

I just ordered and installed Luff S2 size 18X7.5 from tiresdelivered- they're cheap $93 a piece weighing about 20 lbs. but they look great!!!- that's what really matters right??? see for yourself!
