www.motoringgear.com

Four items for sale at this time.
Those metal grill badges look great.

I know but they are sweet. Alot of people bought them, you have to remember they use PUMA for clothing supplier. Great shoes.

not to be a snob, but i think it kinda sux that the swag is now available for non-participants. isn't that kinda like trying to get laid on vietnam vet sympathy when you really fled to canada?

I really don't think it's that serious. It's just swag. MINIUSA is just cashing in on their event.

How many folks have asked a buddy to pick up a concert shirt for them, when they couldn't make it to the show? Same thing, IMO.

not sure which is worse, sporting a MTTS badge when you didn't go, or MINIUSA just cashing in.

but i see the analogy to the tshirt, so maybe i'm just full of it.

I bought the badge as a collectable to keep, but I won't be putting it on my grill because I didn't earn the right. Kind of like a soldier wearing a medal they didn't earn. Does that make sense?

The shirt, however, is a different story. Do you think all the people who buy and wear Super Bowl shirts every year actually went to the game?

I see what you mean about the badges and I guess it would be pretty goofy to sport one on a MINI that wasn't there. But then again, it's not like MTTS was an elite club and the badge isn't a medal that needs to be earned. It's just swag. If you like the look of the badge and couldn't make it, I don't see any harm in showing your support or commemorating the event. I don't think most or any of the MC40 owners were actually at Monte Carlo in 64.

What's wrong with MINI cashing in? Isn't making money the ultimate goal of being in business and doing promotions? I realize MINI's goal was larger than swag sales, but why couldn't they make it in merchandise sales as well.

It is nice that MINI is selling the stuff for folks, like me, who made it to an event, but didn't have 'cash' at the time.

Well I appreciate it because I did go but they were out of shirts at the point I went to buy one. So as a person that went but missed their chance of buying the shirt then, it helps.

You can get laid by wearing a MTTS tshirt?! I scoffed at the $32 at the event, but hey, that's cheaper than buying dinner.

Then there's always the alternative:
MTTS attender: "I went to MTTS and got this cool T-shirt, and you didn't!"
MTTS non-attender: "**** you."
I guess it works either way!

Yes, or the people in New York pretending to be firemen or police in the months following 9/11. A fireman back then told me that if you can't get action as a fireman after 9/11, then you may as well just hang it up....

I am very confilicted about ordering a MTTS badge - I was all signed up to go, had my hotel reservations made and my MTTS decal was in the window when I came down with appendicitis about a week before I was to leave. Did not leave the hospital until the day before I was to head out - and there was no way I could drive for yet another week or more. Technically, I did not participate (and took my decal down from my windscreen) but I certainly was there in spirit....

Under those circumstances, you earned your badge. Get it and enjoy it. Glad you're doing better now.
