AVIC-N3 just arrived!!!

Ok, I have done my home work and decided that the AVIC-N3 will be the best solution for me. I just received the package today and can't wait to get this installed.

I realize this is not a powerfull stereo (22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels), so I'm sure I will need to add an amp and upgrade the speakers. I've been looking at upgrading to components in the front, 6's in the rear with a Basslink in the rear. The Basslink will be self powered, so I will only need 1 amp to power the front and rears. Preferrably a small amp that can be installed under the passenger seat.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Very nice head unit... I'd check out a Pioneer or Premier amp... best to keep things matched

SDmike: thanks for the compliment. I'd like to, but I don't know if Pioneer will be able to deliver the complete package.

nypepper: Do the Polk 6x9's really produce that much bass? I'm trying to stay as stealth as possible. So if you're telling em the 6x9's are just as good as the Basslink, then should be looking at a similar setup to yours.

A few questions:
I currently have the facotry Sirius satellite radio with non H/K head unit. Will my Sirius satellite work with the N3, or do I have to buy a Pioneer Sirius? Will I be able to retain the stering wheel controls for the stereo?

1. NO, have to purchase the SIR-PNR2
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-x94s6n1...2&i=130SIRPNR2

2.NO. The only way to use the wheel controls is to use PAC SWI-PS

Good luck

That's why I'm going to go with XM. Since I have a choice, I might as well go with the more compatible solution. Tks. -m

sorry i forgot about this thread
the 6x9s are enough for most in such a small car, i never find myself wishing i had more bass

they also don't rattle the boot so they are pretty stealth

a sub is in the trunk the 6x9 is right behind your head

you can always come to http://www.usminiclub.com meet and hear it in person

Thanks. I'll do some research on these. Any recommendations on where to buy? I'm definitely want to hear your system in person. When is the next meet/gathering for Long Island motoring?

This Sunday is 11/19 pepper...cmon...you are better than that

I probably won't be at Captree because I volunteered to detail the girlfriend's car...not a smart move in hindsight.

SHRTSTAK: thanks for the welcome mat.

I'll try and make it out there on Sunday. I'm having the AVIC installed this weekend. Fingers crossed the install will happen on Saturday and not Sunday. I've yet to do a Mini meet and greet.

ok, looks like I'm all set to go. I'm going to install the AVIC tomorrow. I'll update this thread with pictures after the install. Here's what's going in...
- Pioneer AVIC N3
- Pioneer ND-PC1 (reverse camera)
- PAC SWI-PS (steering wheel control)
- Sirius Sat Radio SIR-PNR2 (maybe XM, but still undecided. I know I'm running out of time.)
- Basslink
