fitted my HKS filter today...

from the pic, you can see that the filter is almost connected to the throttle body itself the reason for that is so the air-feed tube will be closer to the filter

here you can see how near the air-feed is to the filter

whatya guys think?

took it out for a test and the engine definitely feels it can breathe better...in fact, A LOT better compared to my cheapo filter before the upgrade

looks good, but wouldn't it be getting the hot air produced by the engine rather than the cold air from the outside?

Where did you get that filter? I haven't seen one like that before.

I have seen that one before. But keep an eye on it. The thread I recall, the person had a problem with the filter foam falling apart.

that looks like its almost right over the throttle body ^__^ did you just fit it over? I wonder if it would fit the K&N tube

since it's positioned near the air feed, i hope this won't be an issue

Bullfrog: it's an HKS super power flow filter, usually found in Japanese cars

goaljnky: the foam falling apart? hmm. thanks for the heads up, will keep an eye on it

justintime: it's ALMOST fitted just over the throttle body

Since it's open to air under the hood from all directions, it will always get all of its air from under the hood, but how much of it is hot air depends on whether (and how fast) the car is moving. When standing still, there's no pressure to push air through the snorkle so the majority of the air will likely come from elsewhere in the engine bay. When moving, the air forced in through the snorkle will increase with speed and this will lower the temp of the air surrounding and available to the filter.
