Edgeracing is having their WTF Sale, and I discovered the 17" Flik Bullets in flat black for $79 each--so I bought a set along with some Falken 512s. These will be my general purpose all around wheels/tires. Figure with a bit more height, I won't be scraping as much, and will use my 15" Flik Fuels for autocross and fun runs. I will update this thread with pix once they arrive.

Couldn't find many NAMers with this combination, except for a few old posts from 2004. This was the same with my Flik Fuels, but I love them despite their lack of popularity.




My Flik Fuels with custom center caps--will make same for my forthcoming Bullets.

 

looks good (kinda like those Kazera's tirerack sells in silver and bronze)

and that smaller wheel looks good too.

 

Funny you mentioned that. I saw those Kazeras in the Tirerack catalog,and I had my sights set on them for a long while, before deciding to go smaller to 15's.

Wow that was quick. Can't delay amazing opportunities I guess! My wheels are supposed to arrive on Tuesday, but for some reason, Edgeracing tends to get my shipping zip code wrong which delays shipment as it is rerouted.
I caught the mistake again this morning and they said they would notify UPS, hope they do. 90086 is very different from 90066.

 

a bit OT, but where might I be able to find some MINI centercaps for my Rota wheels... im hoping to get a Gloss black background with the MINI logo in the middle

 

Well I made my own center caps by wrapping existing ones with vinyl. There's a company that does the same thing. Check my OctaneGuy sticky under Int/Ext Mod forum for info.

Woohoo my wheels arrived last night, I made the custom caps--same size as my 15" Flik Fuels--mounted the wheels and went for a test drive at midnight! Awesome!!!

Thanks! Yeah it's definitely a different look. I like them! Now to go put on my FSD's!!! The ride got a bit stiffer, but not much. My other 15" tires are hard as runflats anyways!

Black wheels are the secret weapon against brake dust! After 3 years of wiping white wheels, I'm done! LOL

I bought a similar setup to you, only ordered the same wheels, but in 'gloss titanium' with slightly lower profile falkens - 205/40x17's.

I have no idea why but they do not seem to get as dirty as the original wheels....

I only have good things to say about them at the moment after about 5k miles......

I have the bullets, in a greyish color (Very close to Dark Silver). I like them, though with Mini's random bolt size change I had to drill out the bolt holes by 2 MM to mount them

 

Wow that's too bad. I guess I got lucky. No mounting issues here with either my Flik Fuels or Flik Bullets!

You can't even tell they were drilled unless you look on the back of them, the holes were obviously rough and raised after drilling them, so they were smoothed out a bit and you can see that the color is a bit off (more polished looking)

 

Can you tell me more about how you drilled the holes? Did you do this with a drill press, or go to a machine shop? The guy that bought my Enkei RPF1's also has a late model 2006 MCS and found the lug bolts don't fit the wheels. Just wondering what he can do to make them work.

How come you went with the 205s instead of the 215s?

 

I took them to Steves Auto Clinic in LA, he just used an air gun with a drill bit attached and had the wheel face down on a trash can. Simple but it worked fine. You just need to be careful and make sure the wheels are level and the drill bit is straight up and down so the hole is drilled straight. A drill press would have been great, but it would have damaged the finish on the wheels, and he didn't have one big enough for both the wheels and the tires (Tires were already mounted and balanced).

He was pretty reasonable. All in all it took about an hour to drill the wheels and mount them on the car. He charged me $50 for everything. he even polished up the interior edges of the holes cause they were raised a bit after drilling the holes out.

I checked the lugs supplied from Edge racing before the holes were drilled. The stock lugs in the drilled holes actually fit better than the lugs that Edge Racing supplied (They didn't wobble around as much, not that it really matters once the lugs are tightened, but just an observation).

They did send me a stud kit, but the thread pitch was off by .25. It's an M12x1.5 --> M14x1.5 conversion rather than an M12x1.5 --> M14x1.25 Conversion. I don't know of anyone that currently makes a stud conversion kit to convert the old size to the new size, so drilling the holes out seems to be the cheapest and easiest way to adapt older design wheels to the new hubs. This was done on friday, and since then i've driven over 500 miles on the new wheels, with absolutly no problems.
