Help on deciding about Bonnet Stripes on my MC.

Help! I would really like to put on white bonnet stripes on my LY MC. But I would like to know if by putting them on, will it effect my paint job? Any comments that will help me decide?

I have only seen one other LY MINI with white bonnet stripes, and I must say, I liked the look. Very different. The only effect the stripes will have on you car is a little fade. For instance, when I removed the stripes on my 2003 Cooper this year to install new ones, you could faintly tell there had been stripes there. The paint was a little fresher underneath. It's not very noticeable. Other than that, the vinyl will not hurt the paint, and the stripes are very easy to remove.

Would the slight fade marks effect my re-sale value?

Only if you take the stripes off!

On yellow (a pale color), if you take care of your paint, you shouldn't have any visual fading around the stripes, even after several years. I'd go for it... If you don't like them, you can easily remove them.

A nice detailing job would most likely remove any faded difference. So I wouldn't worry about it. I think the bonnet stripes would look great.

These should help, I'm debating the same thing. I think I'm going with the first pic, white with black pin sides and on the boot!

If you have a white roof, the white stripes look really great. I've seen one just like it and it was sharp.

Personally, the black stripes on an LY make it just too bumblebee-like for my tastes. (No offense intended to the LY owners out there!)

I think the black pinstriping really helps, although using the black areo grill is an odd choice IMHO - usually I like the black grille with the higher-contrast black stripes, and white with chrome. If you decide on white stripes, pesonally I'd suggest not blacking out your grill.

PS - boot stripes = YES!

LY is a great color, IMO. I like it with the white top, white bonnet AND boot stripes with the black pinstripes, and if you were to throw in checkered mirrors to bring out those black pinstripes.... SHARP !!

Def do the white stiripes. To me the black stripes only look good if you have a black roof. I also think the checkered mirror caps would look great too. Just be prepared...the mirror caps will yellow. Mine did at about 20 months but since they carry a 2 year warranty against yellowing I got them replaced for free

BRG/W MC here. Is it blasphemy to add just one stripe? Are there single stripes that look particularly nice? Suggestions or pics of the best you've seen?

Definitely go for the white bonnet stripes with black border. I think it'll look great. And how can you think about selling your MINI so soon!

Definitely white with black pinstripes. Ovrezee's combo was my wife's second color choice and is very hard to find.

I think everyone has me convienced on the white stripes with black pinstripes. I don't intend on selling my Mini, but I feel that anything I might do to my car could effect it's resale value and wish to avoid that...it's called thinking ahead!!

Hate to post twice in a row in same thread, but I just had to say thanks for the pics. Instead of trying to think how they'll look, I can now see exactly what my Ly will look like after the bonnet stripes mod. FAB!! I've decided to go with the white and black pinstripe since I have the white roof. Show us pics of your car when you get it finished. I'll get some posted later when I get the stripes.

I think that the one stripe on the driver's side is pretty sharp.

Maybe I'll do that one...

I think the stripes add a lot to the look of the car. The black pin stripes are great.
