I still prefer the R53 design, but I am going to reserve final judgement until I see the R56 in person and in a more subdued color.

In many respects, I still much prefer the R53 design as well. My biggest quibble with the new interior is the cheap/plasticky center console.

Certainly a R56 is in my future, but not until 2009-10 when the warranty of my MCS expires. Hopefully by then, MINI will offer a MCS with factory JCW kit, DSG transmission, aerokit and all wheel drive..... And a redesigned dashboard/center console.
