Volks or SSR Comps?

Who sells Volks at a great price? I can't seem to find any shop with much info on them. I don't want to spend 2k on new rims, but I wanna shed the tubby tires and rims that the car comes with stock! Other wheels i'm looking at are SSR Comps, which most of you know are nearly impossible to find. I want wheels in a SILVER finish only. I do not like black, dark grey, gunmetal, bronze, or any other variations (Hence my sadness about the SSR Comps, you can't get them in silver anymore). Yes i'm picky! Thanks for your help!

you can get some volk te37's here
http://www.machiii.net/wheels/volk/TE37.html
i recomend the 15x6, as it would be the lightest one (8-11lbs or so) that suports the most tire sizes.

15x6?? I've got 10lb 15x7 BBS and the weight savings is overrrated. Try something more like a 16x7 or 17x7....still much lighter than stock and a bit more rubber on the road. You can't run much more than a 195 width tire on a 6" wheel.

www.importhookup.com has great prices. There website seems to be down at the moment tho. Google and you'll find many hits to other forums. They actually discount through a place called www.wheeloptions.com, which is ran out of a store in El Monte called Discount Tire (not the chain like out east, out west is called America's Tire). Talk to Vic, he's the man. (Hooked me up with mine plus a stud kit I didn't know I needed until I took the wheels off)

Patagonian, what are these secret Volks you ordered?

16x7 ET42 TE37 Time Attacks. This was a special run of 40 pieces for a wholesaler....Mackin only imports these in a 15x7, and even then those are a 'limited edition'. In typical Macjin fashion, they will probably be a stocked item in a year or two, but for now, these are impossible to get. I was supposed to have them last month....still no ETA on getting them in :(

^^ that and the new Comps in dark gray (?) black (?) both look good and
are light weight.

more like just a matter of preference in styling.

The new Comps are hot!!! That said, SSR aren't fully forged. The new design looks to be a bit more heavy duty than the previous ones, so hopefully this won't matter any more (I've seen more than a few of the old ones with bent lips). So, agreed on styling etc, but it's also about construction.

Anecdotal evidence from people I know - one of my Subaru buddies hit a 4" concrete lip on a bridge abutment at 60mph with his 18x8.5 Volk LE28's last week (he swerved to miss a truck that came over the double yellow) and they came away unscathed - he put the wheel on the balancer at work and it was perfect. Another local guy has 17x7.5 SSR Comps and currently has two bent lips from driving on DC streets where he works. The old version SSR's were borderline track only wheels.

the only forged Volks are the one-piece ones, not any of the GT series which are cast and forged, and the most common of the one piece is the CE28 or TE37

SSRs use Semi-Solid Forging (SSF), that doesn't mean its not "forged" but it is simply the name for a process which isn't the same as normal forging

Nice wheels but I absolutly can't stand black wheels on cars, it's just not me.

I don't like solid black, but I think w/ the red lip it'll look great, especially when rolling

I love black wheels, especially on a white/yellow car. I love them even more if they are solid black with no polished lip. Makes them look more for racing and less $blingbling$
