Size 9.5 EEEE Shoe Tight Fit for Pedals

I've got wide feet and wide shoes and there's only about .75" clearance between my shoe and the brake pedal with the right side of my shoe resting against the "lump" extending into the foot area. It does make it easy to heel-toe, but it's kind of clumsy down there (get my foot caught UNDER the brake pedal momentarily).

Anybody else have this problem. Solutions beside driving barefooted?

I had two Miatas and it wasn't an issue.

14W (or 15 when I visit 7 stores and its the closest I can find) here I do the left half right half of the foot equivalent of heel toe almost all the time. Comfortable, but not the most common technique. Never gotten my foot stuck in a MINI, but I have in other cars.

I think it could be worse. I wear 15 EEE. After 85,000. I can say you have at least 3 options. Bearfoot, not my first choice, driving shoes, learn to drive with your toes (it is easy and works on tracks), take a tape measure with you to measure widthsw in inches the next time you buy shoes ( there is really a big difference from one shoe style to another. I guess that is three ways and I'm sure there are more. Me? I have done all of the above and they work. Good luck.

This is an interesting thread. I am really surprised you haven't gotten a couple of responses telling you how silly you are for having wide feet. Maybe suggesting that you are foolish for not having three feet thereby not having to move them back & forth. There seem to be a few people here who think that the whole world should be exactly like them and they find their way into every thread where "personal preference" and "body shape" is an issue which is really not up for discussion.

On a serious note, I would look at modifying the width of the brake pedal very slightly. If you would remove the cover and grind the brake pedal down 1/4 on the right side you would probably get a fair amount of improved clearance. You could probably find a way to replace or modify the cover as well and nobody would ever know.

Is there a point to this?

Yeah, now that you mention it, I guess there is.

Although this forum is the best and most informative forum I have ever used, it is annoying when people respond to threads, which ask advice, with ignorant opinions as if they are fact known by all.

For example:

My sunroof is noisey when open, can someone recommend a wind deflector?......You get responses which (paraphrased) state things like "Wind deflectors look stupid" or "I don't have a problem with the noise so you shouldn't either"

My sport seats tilt back too far and cut off the circulation in my legs, any input or ideas?
......You get a diatribe telling you " you are obviously sitting in your seat wrong, your feet should be here, your hands should be there, you should be x distance away form the steering wheel" etc.

It's all personal preference and everybody is entitled to their's. And just like this rant, I prefer not to be told that preferences are wrong, stupid, or unjustified.

My question to you.....why would you challenge my response but never challenge those referenced above? Just curious.

Not a challenge: just seeking clarification; that portion of your response seemed very out of place given the topic and I was just trying to place how it fit in.

I know this doesn't help you now, but the 07 Mini's have more room between the pedals. Mini must have seen this problem and finally addressed it.

you lost me on this one...how is helping them sit in a position that may improve circulation a bad thing (diatribe) when they ask for help with circulation issues caused by seating position?

I'll explain, I drive how I drive, I do not like to sit close to the wheel and I am 50 years old and have been driving the way I drive for 35 years. Many people have commented that the sport seats tilt back too much so I asked if anyone had a fix. For someone to write a 2000 word diatribe about why everyone drives a Mini wrong then complains about circulation, followed by a very lengthy description of the "proper" way to sit while driving is a waste of time and not an answer to the question.

If you tell me that your stereo breaks up at higher volume, in fact you may have a blow amp, or a blown speaker and are looking for help in determining such. I am wasting your, and everybody elses, time by telling you how to "properly" set the volume of a stereo and explaining in painful detail the science of distortion when overdriving stereo speakers.

It's no big deal, I just find it funny that people feel the urge to "correct" how you percieve something as opposed to offering the help you asked for, or just say nothing.

Yah....but i would assume that it is your seating position that is causing the circulation issue (what else would it be that is related to the car?). If you post a question, be prepared for the answer that perhaps how you sit is the cause of your problem...
