Does anyone like the S-Lites?

Is there any redeeming value in the S-Lites? If not, what do you think my chances of getting them changed out by the dealer before I take delivery. I orderd the sports package but really wanted the 16" size rims and runflats on my new MCS but the dealer said I would be happier with the S-Lites and I fell for it.

Someone must like them a lot because I just sold my S-Lites with RF's for enough to almost cover the cost of my new wheels and tires

For best performance and lower cost skip the 17" S-lytes.

The only thing about S-lytes is that it looks good with the MCS. The bad thing is everything else about it.

The 16" X-lytes are functional, lighter in weight, and don't cost any more.

You just have to ask if the sports package is worth the entire cost for what you get. It's your call.

Now, who will buy your S-lytes so that you can turn around and put some aftermarket wheels and non runflat tires on your MCS from the start?

Get out to some local MINI events and ask around for any owners of 2002 or 2003 MC or MCS that might be looking for new S-lytes and runflats. Runflats are not cheap and worth something to drivers that perfer runflats for safety reasons. Or good for those that don't like the idea of having no spare tire or don't want to change to non runflats yet.

Those owners that have scraped up their S-lyte rims might be interested in replacing a rim or two. You can sell the tires separately from the rims if needed.

The dealer is not likely to give you any break on the rims. You can try but there isn't much of a return for them to handle the S-lytes or to store them.

You might find a used MCS owner willing to trade X-lytes for new S-lytes plus a little compensation. You make the deal.

I was afraid of that. Hope the dealer will allow a change out but I think not. My wife liked them but not the LSD. I hate compromise. She is begining to see the error of her ways. See what happens from here.

Yes. This is to make you feel a little better. Race tested tough from the Belgium MINI Challenge series. Ronal made MINI R85 S-Lites in racing action!

I met a guy once who said he liked them. Something about them being tough. Who said they look good? I dumped mine. If they are used in racing it is because it is a spec series that requires them.

I like them. To me they look great on the car - especially my white ones on my BRG MCS. They're strong, handle potholes and speed bumps without forcing me to baby them. Yes, they're heavy but I find I spend very little time carrying them around so that doesn't bother me.

I like them and the way they look....on other MINIs! LOL! I got the 16-inch v-spokes (x-lites) for Wanda.

Hey, uscfan: Maximusmini, from Ann Arbor, MI, bought a 2006 MCS at Long Beach MINI in May and had to register it here. Guess what his license plate is: 5USC317! Cool, huh!?

Dealers and BMW/MINI USA love them. People who auto-x hate them.

If we ever get a second MINI, and it is a MCS,...
I will go for X-lites/V spokes... I will take my Sport Pack ala-carte

I sold mine on Fleabay (nice one gizzer777) to some great guy in Chicago... anyone? anyone? Bueller?

The weight difference between the S-Lites and my ASA's WITH wheels is like ...4 lbs... EACH

no joke!

Nope I don't like the S-Lites . It amazes me that they are an upgrade when they actually look kinda cheap & blah. I wouldn't want them, the only way they are even tollerable is in white.

I second that, esp. after all the hours I spend cleaning the wheels on my 1992 BMW 325ACi ... however if I could sell them and the Dunlop 5000 run flats that just passed 1K miles and then I would buy these in a minute ...

'ell yes I like my S-Lites. Very 60's Panasport / MiniLite. Look great in white. A biotch to clean, heavy but the perfect look for the BMW MINI.

YES

Good for snow, heavy and sturdy enough I have no doubts the wheel is touching pavement. they also take abuse pretty well oh and did I mention they're 17's my personal tire size preferance as it provides the balance betwen the advantages of 16 and 18 inchers, of course it carries disadvantags as well. The S-lite will remain a winter work horse, however I am eye-ing R99's in the spring.

This is what is meant by beauty being in the eye of the beholder. I can't stand white wheels, but there are those that don't like my choice: anthracite/polished lip. To each their own I guess.......except big chrome spinners, that **** is whack, man!

S-lytes are a good option for white wheels.

They have a classic MINI look to them and panasports are not available for the MINI in 17x7" size.

S-lytes are indeed pretty smooth and fairly easy to clean compared to my R90 Italian Job wheels.

Finally S-lytes are fairly distinctive for the MINI. Imagine that design on a Camry! And don't forget the matching white roof and side mirrors.
