I sold my MCC and got an S, I see lots of people charging the supercharger pulley, three questions what size, where to get it and who around here could put it on?
Actually the 2% crank pulley allows the ac and other components to run more close to stock. Making them operate at what can be considered a safer speed. Though it's all about how you feel about removing the harmonic balancer from the car. It's said the MINI doesn't require one yet there are always arguments that its best to have.
I had a 2% crank pulley on my last MCS and would like one on this one except it will bump me out of STX class in autocross. I've thought about the 0% pulley since it is lighter but I don't feel the benefit of it is worth over $200.
Anyway. Like Magic said. Stephens garage will take care of you.

Once you go with a combo beyond 15%, you run into some long term problems. The 2% crank pulley does decrease wear and tear on the ac, but the added 2% can also cause premature wear of the supercharger.
Definitely go to Stephen.
Congrats on the new S!
Also, you will want to change to colder spark plugs and probably re-map the ecu to best take advantage of the increased boost.
Talked to Stephen this morning and when I hit about 1500 miles he if going to change the oil and put on the 15% pulley so should be in a couple of weeks
Pulley has not come in ordered an Alta cold air intake maybe if the pulley does not come in today I'll get Stephen to put it on if not it, might be mechanics for nitwits one o one.

roach: the intake is rather easy to install yourself with only a couple of hand tools and 4 letter words. It is especially easy if you did not order the silicone hose because attaching the lower portion of the hose was the only bothersome part for me.
Pulley has not come in yet so I'm just going to let Stephen do it. I might be the worst mecanic (even worse at that than spelling) in the state. Thank god I don't like doing it.
Got the pulley put on and the oil changed. Stephen did not put the Alta CAI on said the silicon tube was much to big where it mates to the engine and there metal part did not meet up to the stock Mini box part that is left in so did not put that on. He also said that the CAI would not really do anything. Hoping Detroit Tuned will take it back.

Changing the diameter of the SC pulley will only change the speed of the SC and anything on the same shaft as the SC at a given RPM. The drive belt is driven by the crank pulley so unless you change the crank pulley, the belt speed remains the same thus the AC speed stays the same as it is not on the SC shaft. The water pump is on the SC shaft. Randy Webb has discussed that this is one of the reasons he prefers the 15% pulley. With more reduction, the water pump spins faster at a given RPM than stock. This can cause the pump to cavitate (reduced flow) at high RPMs typically found on the track. Randy explains it much better here.
Stephen said that a CAI really didnt do anything?? That's contrary to a lot of reading and certainly a lot of urban legend. Maybe he means that in ordinary driving you won't notice a difference. Read up on recommended mods in MC(squared).

How exactly does this work? A 2% oversized crankshaft pulley will make the A/C compressor, supercharger and alternator spin *faster* than stock, not "more close to stock".
Or did you mean that a 2% crank pulley will turn the accessories "more close to stock", when compared to a 3% or 4% pulley?

We had the helix CAI installed at the dragon and we can tell a difference, not a huge difference by no means, but we can tell a difference.
