Proper tire size for Falken 512 all season?

I SOOOOoooo want to get these Konig rewinds.

I Believe I would be buying 205/60/15's to make up for the diameter of a 195/55/16 dunlop runflat stock.

The older man at the shop was doing math to 100th decimals and felt that the 205/60/15's would be slighlty less than a 1/4 inch larger, but to go the other way he says is worse, which i agree. I rather have more top end than off the line, and this is rather a small %, 1/100 of the tire height right?

Whoever i show the Rewinds to is like WHOA those look nice.

i got a deal locally from nice people for $700 plus tax

It will be going on a BRG/BRG MCS with chromeline exterior

You want to go with 205/55-15 ... smaller overall diameter = better acceleration

Thank you so much for that calculator!

the difference is .984% which at 60 mph is about a 1/2 mile per hour showing under with 205/60/15's. 8.3 revs difference.

2.385% is the difference of 205/55/15's. The old chinese american dood is right. 851 revs is the new tire and 871 is stock. It is better to be off 8.3 revs and have more top end I feel than be 20 revs off and be all low end.

Plus, the ride of a 60 is nicer, and thats 70% of my goal.

First comfort
Then looks
Then price.

That calculator ROX!! the older gentleman with his pencil and paper did it even faster though. Kinda sick

Looks awesome. Obviously, this is exactly what I needed to see.

Hm. I was thinking silver to match the silver highlights of chromeline that I have. But the graphite does look really nice on BRG as well.

i like the car! hm. grafite or no grafite now....

205/55 R15 is the closest to stock diameter in 15" and 205 width. This is the same tire size I use with my rewinds.

205/60 will be taller than stock.

I autocross on 205/50 R15's because they are a little smaller than stock diameter.

205/60/15's are closer to stock according to math !

0.98% taller than stock on 60
2.39% shorter than stock on 55

I have no doubt racing it better to have smaller, as lower gearing is best for racing in general. However, closest to spedometer is the 60 and hardly anyone knows this it seems.

The 205/60-15 is fine. Tire selection is OK.

Other good tires in this size at Tirerack.com include:
In ultra High Performance Summer tires-
BF Goodrich g-Force Sport $62 each
Yokohama AVS ES100 $81 each

In Ultra HP all season tires-
Bridgestone Potenza RE960 AS Pole Position $80 each
Kumho Ecsta ASX $48 each

In High Performance All Season tires-
BF Goodrich Traction T/A H $63 each
Bridgestone Potenza G009 $66 each
Dunlop SP Sport A2 Plus $58 each
Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S $92 each
Yokohama AVID H4S $56 each

And in about the same overall tire diameter you can find 185/65-15 which should work fine as well. Outer tire diameter 24.4" which is OEM stock sized. The exact selection of tire sizes may vary.

One thing to note is 205/60-15 is a little heavier but will wear down over time and reach stock tire size soon enough. So a taller gear will be relatively short lived. 60 series tires are smooth and more forgiving over rough roads.

Currently, I am making a deal with the guy for the whole package. I figure that its at least a well liked tire. Whether its good for me I dont know. I never had issues in ice and snow with non snow tires on 80's camaro's that were never meant for snow at all. I would drive through the snow fishtailing and going like 40-50 on sidestreets while suv's were doing 20. so, I figure just so long as it is winter rated and makes an honest effort at challenging snow, it will be fine for me on a front wheel drive car with dsc/astc and LSD and me on nicotine. Hm. I will look into them! The best part of getting 15 inch rims is that if your tires are not good, you do not lose all the much in throwing them out and buying new ones!

sup, Kenchan!

I would go 205/55R15. It has worked well on the Mini we have.

Bought the konig rewinds from George Laurea at OPAK on Long Island.

OPAK is a direct seller of Konig's. I went to Konig's main building which turns out to be near my house oddly enough. I saw some hot cars outside!

Set of 4 Rewinds, silver, the center hub something, 40 offset, and Falken 512 all seasons. Picking them up on tuesday

OPAK is fantastic. they know real racing and street racing as well as looks and value. Recommend George to anyone who is on Long Island for rims. When I pick them up im going to give him a few plugs on the forums.
