iPod adaptor Kaflooey?

I have had the OEM adaptor in El Kabong since May. I installed it myself and it has worked flawlessly since day one. Today I was on my way home from the store, listening to some tunes and it just cuts out in the middle of a song and goes to radio. Now it says "NO MAGAZINE" and apparently doesn't "see" the Ipod anymore. The Ipod still works fine using the AUX adaptor.
Has anyone had this happen, or have any ideas what it could be?
Thanks,
Annette

No responses?
Well, this morning the Ipod is dead, no battery left so I guess that means there is no power getting to the adaptor?
I've taken the Ipod out and put it on my player in the garage and it has recharged and is working just fine, whew.
I hate to take the downtubes off again,

Annette

Sounds like it got disconnected.
Seems like your only real option is to pull it apart and check all the connections.

iPod Kaflooey

I had a 3rd-generation 40gb iPod plugged into mine for some time without any problems from the car side, the iPod side did have occational issues though, if you leave the iPod plugged-in and going for a long time (I think it was 9 days straight, though not sure now), every once and awhile it will freeze-up and need to be reset/rebooted. That is an annoying thing to happen, and it will indeed give you the 'NO TAPE' or whatever warning and pop into radio mode. Once you unplug and reboot the iPod, wait till its all booted up and then plug it back into your MINI iPod adaptor and it should recognize it's there again.

I have a newer model black iPod Video 60gb now, it seems to get stuck more often, or maybe it's just my imagination, but I am wondering if Apple has changed something in the code or connector which contributes to this?

If I plug my new iPod into the older iPod's dock connector, it goes into pause mode... I think the power connection may be a bit different, though can't say for sure... because it seems to charge it up just fine... the reason I mention this is, when I do find my iPod stuck in the MINI, sometimes the screen will display "Charged" instead of "MINI" so it makes me wonder..

I heard BMW NA is coming out with a newer iPod adaptor which better integrates into the (Alpine) factory radio boost/wave and iDrive or whatever gadget they decide to port over to the MINI.. it certainly would be nice to know what track name I am listening to other than CD4-99 or whatever..

If you do pull the head out and look at the iPod plug-in thingy, let me know what you find out? I am curious if the same thing may be happening to mine..

Cheers,

I'm hoping I'll have some time tomorrow, but if not I'll have to put it off until next weekend. I can live without it for awhile, I guess.

My iPod just started doing this a few days ago. Have emailed my MA and waiting for a response. The iPod is getting juice, its just that it will nto shut off and then during the night it will continue to play until it dies.

Same here as well. I just purchased a 06MCS with the Mini ipod adapter and i can leave my nano attached to the car. It never goes off but charges. What's the deal.
