I need input/pictures? from owners for my 07 MCS
My first post to this group...I have been reading posts for weeks now. There is SO MUCH INFORMATION here, it gets a bit overwhelming.
I have a deposit in for an 07 MCS. Trying to keep options down. At this time I plan for LSD, Xenon lights, and the HK stereo upgrade. Oh yeah, 16" wheels. I just personally can't get behind those bigger wheels, even though they DO look good. Report I read in Grassroots Motorsports back in April (a huge multipage article with plenty of track testing) concluded that 16" would get as good a road performance as anything. Thoughts on that from you guys out there doing the driving , please??Considering cruise control. Didn't get a price on that.
The HK stereo upgrade is around $500. I'm a music guy...classic blues/rock/country. Is this worth it?
There's a brake package option. It's $1500. The dealer rep said that they install it there, and I could have the parts they took off. I'm thinking it would be better to drive the MCS as the brakes come from the factory, then upgrade later when/if the rotors/etc need replacement. Thoughts on this appreciated. (UPDATE: Dealer rep informs me 07 MCS wil have JCW brake package STANDARD! YEAH!)
I keep reading in the group and wonder if I want the rear fog light?
Ditto for this "seven" interior trim they're offering for the 07. This is kind of sketchy, because I don't know what it looks like.
Here's where this gets a bit silly. I am having the darndest time making up my mind on an exterior color/color combo!! I started with plain pepper white. Then I added the possibility of pure silver. Then I started on a black top on either of these. The black top on the pure silver gives the car a very nice EVIL LOOK, to my eyes. That's good. The black top also blends right into those black uprights, giving it a cohesive look. I like that.
My initial thought on the plain pepper white or pure silver was to go with mightystripes.com's viper stripes, or a solid stripe with small outer contrasting stripes...either of these running top to bottom front to rear. Something to separate it from the pack. Interior will be something dark, not tan. Gotta see what they offer for 07.
I gotta say I love seeing what you guys and gals do to your cars exteriors. You sure look like you're having fun. I would sure appreciate it if some of you owners with pure silver or pepper white cars could put up some pics of your cars. I'm not sure this aspect is for me, but I really dig seeing those striped jobs you do with door numbers. It just looks like pure fun.
I should say that I sold a nice original 62 Mini Cooper that I really loved as part of the finance plan for this new set of wheels.
So I'm just waiting till the people at eastbaymini.com contact me so I can come in and go over the final details when they have all the info. It sounds like that will be 11/06, deliver ??? in 07.
And just so you roadburners don't have to feel too sorry for me while I wait, I have an Audi Alu Silver colored Grinnall Scorpion in my garage to tide me over during the wait. It features no chrome, just black powdercoat. I guess I'd have to say I'm about the drive and like basic looking appearances. I also realize that, most likely, these details won't change the big smile I'll have on my face driving this neat new car.
