2006 sunroof 1 click close

I just got my mini about a week ago. When we were going thru the features my salesman Scott noticed that the sunroof wouldn't shut with one click like I had requested. He took it back in the shop and said they fixed it. I really should have checked it right there in retrospect. Since have found that the one click doesn't close it but puts the sunroof into a tilt position. I emailed him about it and he said you couldn't one click close it (only one click close to a tilted position) which I think isn't right . If you've got a 2006 with sunroof that you can one touch close (not tilt) then please let me know.

Mine is the same way....from a full open it will go to a full close with tilt with one click. Second click brings it all the way down.

Yup, right when you get on the freeway on ramp I have this routine down pat. 1st Click close with Tilt, shift gear (maybe 2 gears), 2nd click to bring it down, merge into lane...

I've got a 2004 and the sunroof does the same thing. I don't mind it. I have 2 dachshunds that sometimes wait in the car for me when I take them with me to run errands. I always (unless it's raining) leave the sunroof at the tilt for them.

As everyone else stated, one click brings it to the tilt position. My 06 is the same.

Conventional wisdom says they do it that way because there is no pinch sensor for the 'down' motion, whereas there is for the 'close' motion.
This way if an idiot trys to put their fingers in your closing sunroof, they'll be saved.
Friggin' lawyers (and idiots who hired them because they were idiots...)

I would have been jealous if you guys had a one click to close option... I personally don't care for having to hold it or click it again to close fully.
That might be the ONLY thing that's less than perfect on my MINI.
I'll hit 30,000 miles during my commutes today. :-)

Add another one to the list. My 06 Cktmate does it.

However I have noticed after opening the sunroof the auto close (to a tilt position) only works if you wait a few seconds. Same with adjusting the size of the opening. Some soft of time delay before the automode kicks in. Or maybe the way I press the buttons

Yep, normal. My 02, 04 and now 06 all worked the same way. Eric hit it on the head. Hug a lawyer today.

My '03 did the same (two clicks to close). When I ordered my '06 (picked it up last Friday), the MA offered me the one-click close as a programmable option, but then later told me that this was no longer an available option. I'm not sure if at some point it may have been available - however, it no longer is.

I don't like it as much as the next guy. The other day I thought I had closed it but seems I forgot about the tilt...came out and it was raining with the roof open :( Luckily it had just STARTED raining and I got it closed.......

Now what would REALLY be nice is a way to have it automatically fully close the windows and sunroof when I turn the car off....course I guess that would be a problem if you wanted to leave them down/open. Guess the "remote up" module is the best we can get....

Mine too and I like it that way! I almost always go from full open to closed with tilt and leave it that way. I would be anoyed if the thing closed all the way and then I had to reopen it to get back to the tilt position.

Maybe Ian (of auto-up window fame) can rig up a circuit that causes the sunroof to close all the way with a double tap and close to tilt position with a single tap. How many people would be interested in that?

Hmm wonder if my rain sensor can be programmed to close everything if it detects rain. Maybe it already does? This would be an interesting mod for those that have the rain sensor.
I pick up my car on Friday so I can't test it yet.

I would just post here and say that mine does it as well, which it does, but I think its pretty conclusive! And I'm not a lawyer but I work for a bunch, theyre not so bad, except I do work for the government so I don't know about all the private practice attorneys out there. I would imagine they are a different breed...

I'm all for the auto up windows. I can understand why MINI doesn't have them. Remember, there are some parents (not all) that, at some point or another, aren't responsible enough (or not paying attention) to their child and the child has their fingers on the top of the window as it goes up. It becomes a bad pinched finger if hand is not removed. One can also count on the party person who has had too much libation to do the same thing.

As someone else mentioned, could be the same reason for a 2 click sunroof.

yeah, but with auto-up windows in BMWs, there is a sensor so that if something is in the way, then the window will hit it and go back down. Sort of the same concept as a garage door. It'd be nice if MINI did something like that.

These guys make a kit to do just what you want, unfortunately only for the E36 BMW's, not MINIs (yet) Perhaps if we flood them with e-mails....

Same here. One click opens it. Two clicks to close.

BUT! I love the feature of sticking your key in the door lock with windows down and roof open....turn the key and hit the lock button on the key and EVERYTHING closes, seals, locks and activates the alarm. (No second guessing yourself later as it's raining and you ask yourdelf, "Did I shut the sunroof all the way???"
