Project Flannelhippie-Front end Redux

PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My dogs and I frolicking

UPDATE: Finished the bumper install. EASY..... Until you realize the fogs dont fit. We had the bumper finished and on, until we saw the fogs. My dad and I just sat there unitl we realized that there were mounting holes a little higher. Then, there was still the question of: How will we get to the screws? With my crazy idea, and my dad skills, we remounted the lights, and put back on the bumper, with the areo grill already on. I had a brand new bumper to work with, and limitless time up in my bed room, getting it all just right. But now that the bumper is on, it will all be taken from me, while the shop puts my bonnet swoop. Well, cheers, and pics of new front end tonight.

Update. I ended up taking all the tabs, and back to the lower aero grill, Any tips on attaching. My dad and I couldnt figure out how to attach it. It looks awesome on the MCS bumper. And I cant wait to put it all together.

New Update: I got anxious, and installed the upper aerogrill(cant install the lower untill I get the MCS bumper) Looks great, But I think my fingers are gonna fall off. I am a city boy, and all that threading by hand really tore them up. It was worth it, cant wait to get the rest on, Swoop coming tomorrow, and MCS bumper coming the next day, then the day after that Its my birthday.

EDIT: I got the aero grill today, and its hott, and the new MC2, (I got hooked up), Just cant wait the get the bumper, and stripe, gonna be sweet.

Well, I love my Cooper, but there is some things, that Im not a fan of. Pretty much chrome in genral. So, I bought the Aero Grill from Detriot tuned, and the MCS bumper from ebay, and finally the White checkmate swoop, from cooper flags. All have been ordered for 4 days now, and I and anxiously awaiting, their arrival. And when I get another 2-3 hundred dollars, Im gettin drivin lights.

BTW: I thought it was funny I washed my cooper, and armouralled the molding, and realized it was gonna rain, so I parked my car in the garage all day, and am driving my little sisters car to work.

NOW STOCK:

If you go aftermarket and have some basic DIY skills, you can get driving lights for lots less than $300. Unless you're only interested in the OEM driving lights - THOSE will run you more like $400.

Good luck with the mods!

My bonnet stripes were OEM and were on the car when I bought it. I installed my own boot stripes, though (I got them from Aesthetic Creations). They're not hard to do - all you really need is some masking tape and a bit of patience.

Octaneguy, one of the detailing gurus seems to like meguiar's "Hyper Dressing" (it's in their professional line if you look on their site: http://meguiars.com/?detailer-dressings/Hyper-Dressing) $40 for a gallon seems like a lot, but you dilute it 4-1 for use, so that's vbasically a lifetime supply for normal (non-pro) folk. Maybe someone would be interested in getting together a group buy and we can split the jug?

I can't even hit their main page - they must be down. Give it a few and try again, or here is is elsewhere:

Hyper Dressing is about a third of the way down the page. They offer a 32 oz. and a gallon (128 oz.) bottle of concentrate, and the galllon is a bit more economical per ounce

Actually, what I recommend for the plastic trim pieces isn't Hyperdressing. This is great for engine detailing and plastics in general, but for my own MINI, I use this product. RENU-IT.

Allbrite Item #: FP-015

Or from their main site

You can find various people selling it for around $8 to $10 a bottle and will last forever. It doesn't attract dirt, and when they do get dirty, a wipe with a towel is all that's needed to clean them, and they will still be black. Very easy to apply.

I use Meguiar's NXT on my trim. Works great and last's pretty long. I also used it in the engine bay and haven't seen any problems due to heat or anything. Very nice product.
