R50/53 Who has a Light Green Mini?
Who has a Light Green Mini?
I've been seeing a light green MINI around where I live (east bay area)
I like it a lot.
I've never been able to track them down, but I was wondering if this light green color was ever an option for MINIs or if it was custom done? I heard someone say there used to be another green when they first came out, but I've never seen any other green on a new MINI besides British racing Green. Anyone know anything?

I beg to differ...if BMW says it's green, then it's green...a light green, a mint green, a frost green, a silverish gray-green, a blue-gray-green...but still green, no matter what shade....and, its the shortest color run [therefore VERY rare].

I remember seeing one Silk Green with the green factory interior a few years ago.
There was one of those for sale around here a couple of weeks ago...I tried to buy it before I ordered mine but it was snapped up the same day it went on the lot :( I really love that color, and also Solid Gold :(
Accoriding to the guys on White Roof Radio, Silk Green was a rare color coice and all that came to the states were CVT automatics.
Nice colormatch on SG MC Fireballed Brian!

I would love to have a long talk, with a cattle prod in hand, with the clowns at Mini/BMW who choose colors for their cars. They get rid of all the nice colors, and have been replacing them with highway camoflage.

Actually I'm surprised he hasn't chimed in... Althought that's his car in the first picture above...

I think he has sold it, or perhaps gave it to his college-bound daughter, because he was driving another Cooper at the Dragon last Spring.

It's a Different green!!
OK- so that's the old green.
Thanks for the replies- those are great photos too.
That reminds me of a classic t-bird color (i used to have a t-bird)
Anyway, thats not the green I saw this morning!
So it must have been a custom job. It was a grass green, more saturated.
Stood out quite a bit.
I'll have to track him down next time I see him and take a picture!

FYI it is Karmann Ghia.
Karmann is a German Coachwerks company that has designed many bodystyles over the years for various automakers including the AMX Javelin!
Other notable Karmann bodied cars are the Chrysler Crossfire, VW Scirocco, VW Corrado, the original VW Beetle Convertible, Merkur XR4ti, and others.
I understand Space Blue has been discontinued after only one year. I wonder if there is any way to get the stats on how many cars were painted what colour, how many were automatics, CVTs, JCW's etc....

I think MINI's should be bright, cheerful colors.
Most of todays vehicles, including the MINI, have a lot of colors that are very dull and boring. I have driven by my local car dealerships, (no MINI dealer of course), and been downright depressed by the sea of silver white, black, beige, gray and other lifeless colors.
I'm happy to take the risk of arrest-me-red.

I'm in favor of a wide selection of MINI colors. I love to see Silk Green, Velvet Red, Hot Orange, Purple Haze, etc.; but black, blue, and silver can rock as well!
