Tight Fit

Based on the most recent sales info and the most recent US population numbers, it looks like there is alittle more than 1/2 of a Mini Cooper in the US for each 1,000,000 people, not counting illegal aliens(guest workers if you perfer) so if your'e thinking about car pooling GOOOOOOOOOD LUCK!!!!!!

With our population at 298 million, are you saying that there are only about 150 MINI's in the United states?

Check you math

Yes, but they rarely drive MINIs. Mostly old trucks or land yachts.

According to Motoring File as of June 1st 150,000 Minis had been sold in the US & using Yucca's 298 million people in the US that would be approx 530 Minis for every million people or approx 5.3 Minis per 10,000 people or approx 1/2 a Mini for every 1000 people or approx 1/2000th of a Mini for every person (I think )

I am glad to see that people don't take everything they read at face value in this country, I get alittle concerned that sometimes just becuse its in print that its true. Nice to know that people are checking the numbers! Overall though our cars make up a very small %. Thanks for looking and thinking!

Actually, its quite large compared to some other brands.

How many Elise sold ... total in the US. Maybe 3000 period.

How many Exige? I doubt 200, many still on lots

Cayman S?
Honda S2000?

I bet there are far more MINIs sold these days than you imagine.

Its still a small % for a car that has world recognition. I don't have the exact numbers, but in about a 2 year period 64-66 Ford sold over 1.2 million Mustangs in the US and I believe they've sold more 2005 and 2006 Mustangs than Mini has sold total cars in the US during the last four years. Granted theres always low volume cars like the Lotus, but most of them don't interest the general public. Mini sold the 150,000th car on May 31, 2006,plus dealer inventory and deliveries since then. Ford and GM sell more trucks each year than that. Corvettes may have outsold Mini? Corvette production in 2005 without any ZO6s was 37,372!

Well, I'd like for there to be just enough MINIs sold to keep NAM, AMVIV, MOTD, etc. interesting, but not so many that they become commonplace on my commute. I want my hand to be fresh for an enthusiastic wave every time!

I agree with that! It really doesn't matter how many cars are out here. Enjoy the ones that are! Life is too short to sweat the small stuff!
