Should I give my mini a name?

I've never given a car a name before but I've never been in love with my car before either! So mini fans..did you name your car and if so what is her/his name? Any ideas on a name for my new cute girl?? Ha Ha!!

Well, of course you should give your Mini a name! Would you adopt a dog from the pound and not name it? Would you bring a new baby home and not name it?

Our "kid" is named Union Jack, or just Jack for short!

My MINI is called the General. It all stems from the fact that when I went to the DMV to register a name for my MINI, I ended up getting GOT MINI as its tag. It wasn't until a week later when my friend and I were washing our MINIs together that he happened to notice that GOT MINI was an acronym for GM. And since lots of people refer to GM (General Motors) as the General in car magazines and such, it would be a fitting name for mine. Not to mention, a question isn't exactly a good name for a car, but it certainly works fine as a tag.

Don't give your MINI a name--wait for your MINI to tell you its name!

Mine's Logan..combination X-Men/Logan's Run reference. And now that I hear him growl, he reminds me every day of how apt the Wolverine reference is.

Relax, the name will just hit you one day as you motor down the road.

"Nell" was arrived apon 4 months after delivery. Don't have a clue where the name came from, but my wife came up with it. We were discussing an Alfa Romeo I had named Carmella, and she turned to me and said her name is Nell.

OK what ever you say....

I'm with you.....but it isn't for a lack of trying. My MINI is......well, just "the MINI" (and, truth be told, apparently quite proud of this distinction)!!

If a MINI doesn't have a name...there's nothing wrong w/ that. It is something of a tradition, though, so if you have any hint of an urge to do so, please do pick a name. At least you'll be able to participate in threads like this w/o feeling like a total curmudgeon.

Don't worry about it. You've already started to refer to it as "her" so the process has already started. I refer to my Punkin only in writing. Verbally I just say "the mini" but the name is Punkin.

Thanks for sharing your names....so clever!! Mini owners are certainly cool, smart people! I think I'll go with the person that told me not to give my mini a name...wait for her to tell me her name....loved it and also made me laugh...thanks! I'm still smiling everyday when I'm behind the wheel and today I started to really rev up the gears and test her speed. Wow, I left everyone in the dust, so much fun.....oh no, I feel a speeding ticket coming my way. Having a BLAST!!!

Let your name come to you.

My wife named her MINI at MITM this weekend. His name is Apollo after the lunar missions. Her Astro Black convertable w/ 4 occupants for a weekend is a tight fit just like the ASTROnauts. She is trying to decide if she wants a body wrap to make it look like the re-entry vehicle or launch vehicle or just leave it plain.
