Classic Mini Stolen in San Diego - HELP!

I know that there are a lot of you people in San Diego. A member of my club had his classic Mini Cooper stolen last night. It's red with a Union Jack roof and Minilite wheels. Here is a photo from a recent dyno day that we did. Will you guys please be on the lookout and call the cops if you see it. Call Heritage Garage (after calling the police) if you've seen it! 949-646-6404. Please post this on any other Mini boards you may be a member of.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear this, Rick. I truly hope you find it in as close to perfect condition as possible. The really sad part is that you can't really put a price on these classics, so regardless of what you get from your ins. company, its not going to make up for your loss.

Also, try posting here http://www.mini2.com/forum/southern-california-region/ and http://www.mini2.com/forum/south-west-region/

Good luck..

That is just horrible! I'm so sad to read this. I'm sure keeping my fingers crossed that it hasn't landed across the border yet....and is found soon. We'll keep our eyes out down this way....

San Diego is a favorite place to steal cars simply becuase it is so easy to get across the Mexican border with no questions asked.
I was born and raised in San Diego (Coronado specifically) and I had many a friend who lost cars that were never recovered here in thre States.
Vintage cars are favorites because they typically have no alarms, are easy to hot wire, easy to break into, and of course very easy to get across the border with to a easy market for stolen cars and trucks.

I do hope you get your car back but don't hold your breath, and I sure do hope you had it insured.

If its in Mexico it's gone.

It's weird but the early Minis had VIN plates that were attached with sheet metal screws!

I'll keep my eyes open for it. Hope it turns up in one piece on this side of the boarder.

I will be on the lookout as well.

I would actually be more suprised if this was stolen to go to Mexico. I had a truck stolen for that purpose... Why not steal a newer car that still would not be returned?

I just heard the Mini did cross the border into Mexico. I am so sad for him. Our MINIs/Minis are not "just a car" to us.

Yeah, that is true. I've sent out messages to the Mexican Mini clubs so lets hope. Todd is a very cool guy and I feel bad for him.
