Factory Chrome Line Interior or Aftermarket?

I have just orderd an 06 MCS with black leatherette, anthracite dash and anthracite headliner. I did not order the chrome package as I am ordinarily not a huge chrome fan. However, after reading a number of posts here, it sounds like that with the anthracite dash you get a combination of both anthracite (speedo) and silver (tach) rings on the gauges, which I am just not sure about the looks of.

Is it correct that if you order the chrome line interior package everything will be chrome and match? Like I said, I am not a big fan of chrome, but if it is not excessive, I think it can look good in the right environment and would probably look sharp against the anthracite dash and might brighten up my very black interior just a bit.

So, should I change my order to include the chrome package from the factory, or just wait and see how it looks and then upgrade with aftermarket parts if I am not happy? Thanks for any help.

gator- i also ordered mine with the anthracite interior, but no chrome package, and have exactly the same concerns as you. seems to me that since you can order the chrome gauges for $100 from outmotoring.com, and more chrome for just about everything else for another $120, (and only install the pieces you think look good) there's no real advantage to getting the factory chrome that you might not like.

The aftermarket chrome bits fit over the original pieces and make them look a little bit bloated. If you want it and can change your order, I'd do it with the factory stuff.

My wife's Cooper has the chrome interior and I think it looks really nice. There is not too much of it either unless you are a chrome hater.

Here's a pic of my anthracite/chrome interior.

I don't think the chrome is excessive. Just gives it a little pep. (BTW, I didn't get the chrome exterior because I'm also not a fan of a lot of chrome)

Ive never had chrome before in my car and never would have considered it until I saw it in person.

Then i went ahead and ordered the chromeline interior with the piano black seven interior. No regrets here as the contrast and finish are fantastic with my anthracite headliner.

this is a fantastic looking combo, congrats.

i wish i had sprung for the extra $200 for the black dash, but i was at my limit (so i thought). in retrospect the extra change then would make no impact now, but i wish i had the dash.

oh well.

I don't think that the chrome line interior is excessive at all. The aftermarket parts just stick over the factory parts with tape, giving everything a slightly raised look. Here is my dads car with anthracite interior and headliner w/chrome:

I think that the accents make the interior very classy and it is not overdone.
