I did a full detail job this weekend on my newly received 06 mcs and started noticing a few imperfections.

the shifter **** is firmly attached to the shifter however there is play where you can turn the **** (horizontally) slightly to have it click back and forth in either direction. Its starting to get annoying with i shift with my had fully around the ball.

I wanted to know if this was common or if this is part of the break in process. I could have sworn that the **** was supposed to be solid and stationary against the shifter but i could be wrong.

 

something's wrong. try pulling it off and re-installing it.

or, just get a replacement. there are so many better ***** out on
the market.
