Attn: current and former beetle owners
My daughter has decided that she wants a new beetle for her first car. can any of you recommend a particular model or give me some guidance as to what to avoid. thanking all of you in advance. mark

I'd look for an '01+...the real old ones arent the most reliable. They were updated in '01, then again in '03, and again in '06. They got better with each update, obviously.
I'd also go for the 1.8T, the 2.0 engine is kinda dated and SLOW.
Other than that, not too much to avoid.

I wanna say the 2.0L has 115 hp, and the 1.8T has 150 hp.
