1507 miles, first tow.

Driving to lunch today from work, get a stumble from Monty, and both the ECL and Check Engine lights illuminate steady (not to mention he starts running pretty rough). Call the dealer, they recommend towing him in.

I live about 80 miles from my dealer. I'm glad there's no mileage limit on the MINI Roadside Assistance plan!

One positive aspect of this is the tow provider. He showed up in an immaculate flatbed. He asked me if the car had ever been towed before, and when I said it hadn't, he said, "Well, you're about to see it done right."

The care he took was astounding, as I've had just about every car I've ever owned towed. Cloth straps on 3 wheels, and the cable in the front tow hook. He showed me what he was doing, and told me "if anyone starts to tow it and doesn't do everything I've just done, tell them to stop."

One bright spot in an otherwise frustrating day. Since I didn't accompany the car to the dealer, I don't have a loaner (I couldn't take time of in the middle of the day).

1507 miles. Must be some kinda record.

Record maybe for being towed but not for going to the dealer with lights on the dash My MCSa was at the dealer 2 or 3 times while under 1k miles due to tranny software issues.

Good luck on getting Monty back and fixed properly. Be sure to update us on what they find. Sounds like you got one great tow track driver.

Another great thing to get for towing while you are at the dealer is a second tow hook. MINI only provides one, but there is an attachment point on both bumpers to accept one.

Good luck you had getting a great tow driver!

When did MINI start manufacturing MCS automatics? Was it early 2005? Did those have some growing pains (SES lights and what not) moreso than the 2006 Model Year MSCa, or are an equal number of 2006 MCSa having similar problems?

It sucks that your beloved MINI had to be towed away...

But at least you got a great guy that took care of everything !

I hope everything will be fixed soon and you'll be motoring ASAP!

I got you beat...I had 700 and some miles and it was towed to the dealer....Picked her up in NJ with 99 miles and drove her home to Akron, OH...only to have her towed to Classic the next day...(Oil leak all the way back from NJ)

YOU CAN HAVE THE SECOND PLACE TROPHY!

The first MCSa started to be built in Jan 05. Mostly 05s had issues with the tranny and ecu. I haven't heard of any 06s with issues. I take it they ironed out the kinks.

Well, maybe not. I just got off the phone with the service advisor - they finally got my MCSa in the bay, and apparently there's a service advisory for this series of faults. I think he said there was a software change that corrected it.

Anyway, they should be done with it tomorrow. Apparently they got an AUX adapter in (a minor miracle since they're nationally backordered), so they'll put that in as well. The one they tried to put in before I took delivery was bad, so it'll be nice to finally have everything I paid for.

I find it odd that MINI didn't update the software on all cars after the fix was found.

Its the same way with Apple computers. They will ship a computer out after over a dozen updates were released.
