About to place my order, and I pretty much only have one last descision to make - the roof color.

I'm getting a CR MCS with white bonnet stripes, but I'm just not sure about the white roof. I like the fact that it is distinctively MINI, and I like the story behind the white roof, and I like the fact that my bonnet stripes come free from the factory with my Sport package. There's just one problem...I'm not crazy about the look of the white roof.

Will it grow on me? Has anyone out there grown to appreciate the white roof after time? I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I really do want to like it.

 

I'd be willing to bet it will grow on you, especially as people comment on it. It's a uniquely MINI look. I'm not entirely objective because I have the white roof and love the look.

But each to own, and either way your MINI will be great fun!

 

What about a black roof? CR/B looks quite nice IMO.

We've had our Mini only 3 weeks and in some 98 degree weather. Maybe it's just me but I think the car is cooler with a white roof.

 

I wanted a white roof because I live in Arizona.
And it's traditional.
But black looks good too.

 

I love my white roof. For me it is a MINI

Silver looks Fab, too! CR w/white is so classic. Go with contrasting roof.

 

Chili Red is also one of my favorites for having a body colored roof.

But these days I really like the CR/B combo for a red MINI.

But of course white is so traditional for a MINI that you can't go wrong.

Guess it seems I don't have any strong opinion except that I think all the combos look great with CR.

 

I say first decide if you are planning to get a roof graphic of some kind. That may help narrow choices.

Next go with your gut feeling of what you like. If you are unsure, don't get it.

But have fun with your mini, make it your own. Don't justify a reason to get something. Go with your heart.

 

Well, I'm getting the sunroof. I've thought about getting a Union Jack sunroof graphic, but I'm going to see how I like the sunroof uncovered before I decide for sure.

I've seen pictures online of the UJ sunroof-only graphic on a white roof. I like that better than the bare white roof, but I imagine it would look really good on the CR roof, as well. Unless the reds clash. Anybody know of a pic of the CR roof with the UJ sunroof graphic?

P.S.: If anybody knows where I can find a pic of a CR/W with bonnet stripes and a UJ sunroof decal, that would be very, very helpful.

 

I struggled with a similar situation when deciding my colour combo. I was initially going with the CR/W combo because I'm in TX and it's hot, so figured the white roof would reflect, etc. But after seeing it in person, I was turned off it. In the end I decided on CR/B. I just ended up getting what I wanted and not basing on things such as where I live, etc. I mean, I don't plan on living where I am now forever, but I do plan on keeping my MINI a long time!

I think CR/B is one of the more aggressive looking combos, esp. with the black bonnet stripes

 

Red with a black roof is a way cool 60s combination. That's what my '66 S is supposed to be (and will be once it's refurbished).

Red and White is nice, but there are about 40,000,000,001 red / white Minis out there. Go Red & Black!

 

I love CR with body color roof.
I'd say you should pretend you have to decide right this second, just do it and whatever pops into your head is the one you should have.

I would also think the white roof might help our MINI's be a little more visible in most situations, too.

White roofs look really nice and very distinctive. Plus if you're someplace really warm & sunny your car will be cooler.

I went with light silver because it's very dusty here in New Mexico, and both black and white cars end up looking like doo-doo here after about ten minutes outdoors. Plus the light silver roof gives me the contrast-thing too, if not quite as bold. I spent a lot of time in the build-your-own web site, toying with colors, before I settled on DS/S. Only if you change out the front brake pads immediately after you get home uppon delivery!

With stock pads, your front wheels become black and the rears become gray.

 

Have to vote for CR/W. Classic, and w/ white rims, mirrors, and stripes, looks crisp, clean, and fun. Have the aero grill put on to finish the business.

 

I wouldn't let my fiance order the convertible because it wasn't "traditional" Mini. A Mini needs a white roof.
We have CR/W with bonnet stripes, the BEST!

Everyday when I park in the garage at work, I pass by 2 CR minis. One with a black roof, one with a white roof.

I agree that the black roof (especially with dark window tint) makes the MINI look more aggressive. When I see them side by side, I personally like the white roof version better

But both look great--you can't go wrong.

 

I got the white roof because I liked the way it looked, and thought it would be cooler.

I find that when I absolutely need to wash my car in the sun, the roof is the last place that I have to worry about water evaporating and leaving water spots. It stays cool enought in direct sunlight that water does not evaporate very fast.
