R50/53 Speed Shifting the 6 speed?
Speed Shifting the 6 speed?
Today I attempted to speed shift my MCS from 1st to 2dn and it would not engage 2nd. I may have hit the gate but I don't think so. I describe speed shifting when the pedal remains mashed while banging the clutch and shifting. I can do it in my TDI NB. Has anyone else tried this with the 6 speed?

My question is why do you want to speed shift? It's not so great for either the clutch or engine; it really isn't worth the benefit unless you're in a short sprint--and even then it's only going to help you if you hit it right. But you're going to wear everything out sooner if you push it.

I didn't really understand the speed shifting part, but when I go into full throttle and shift from first to second, I have the same exact problem. I've tried it several times, and I think I only caught second once or twice, and it was a great feeling. But that's the thing that's bothering me the most about my MCS right now. If you figure it out let me know.
hmm what year MCS.. i have an 03 which ive been drag racing and now Autox. currently car has just over 45k. with over 12k done with Speedshifting. I'm also using a Stage 3 clutch which changes where on the pedal it starts to engage. I found if using the stock clutch it would begin to engage at the first 1/4 inch from the floor which would make it easy to hit the gates and have the problem you described. With the Stage 3 its only 1" of movement from the top of the pedal to go from full engage to disegage which makes it much much easier for speedshifting.
