Couple of CF questions

I've NO experience dealing with Carbon Fiber and had a couple of questions. I like the look of the JCW CF Steering wheel trim but since it isn't offered for the MFSW I was wondering how much trouble I'd be asking for if I were to take the regular left and right bits and try to cut out the spaces for the buttons From looking at RealOEM it appears that they are replacement parts and not add-ons. I was therefore thinking about using the std parts as templates to get the holes right. Would it really be that "Easy" or would I run into problems with any clear-coat/gel coating?

Am I making any sense?

Opinions/Advice appreciated

Note: JCW Trim bits are parts 2,3 & 4....

CF is hard to cut, and it will take a long time to polish the surface, but not undo-able, i think.

i went by the local Carbotique and they sell these CF stripes... on
the package, it said it is not intended for pieces that require sharp
curvatures or sophisticated shapes and this and that and things of
that nature.

Umm, I think MINI does not sell the pieces for a MFSW is because of the MFSW radio/Cruise Control buttons. If one was to install the Carbon Fiber pieces, I think it would look odd with the off colored buttons. This is just something to think about before you consider doing it.

Dont they sell like sheets of the fake stuff? That would be eaiser to cut. I'm thinking its almost like a huge sticker that you can cut.

I know Aesthetic Creations was releasing their CF bonnet stripes for
like 70 for a pair...(vinyl) i might get it down the road for my car.
maybe you can contact them and see if they can sell you like an excess
piece or something small.

the faux film i got from Japan (for my old WRX) was extreamly thin
and it actually shrunk to the trims as if it was like molded on there when
heated. it was very cool.

i need to get some more of that stuff next time. im hoping to head out
there in July or Aug.

My first thought was to use CF "Look" Vinyl but I've seen that twice and it looked cheap both times. Now if I could get some good quality stuff then

Thanks
