I started a post in "1st Gear" but I'm not sure it got a lot of visibility so I thought I'd expand on it a bit and try to make it better..

The idea of the thread is to post the actual number of days from your production date (or estimated completion date as "the voice" refers to it) to the day your MINI was first available for pick up. Here is the format that I think might work best (just copy and paste these 6 points):

1. Production (completion) date - May 2nd, 2006
2. Vessel departure date - May 8th, 2006
3. Vessel arrival date - May 20th, 2006
4. Port of arrival - Charleston, SC
5. Available for pick up - June 1st, 2006
6. Pick-up location - Minneapolis, Minnesota
Total Time - 30 days (Production to pick up)
*additional dates welcome (just add them in without bolding)

So, anyone out there who has taken delivery of their MINI that can remember these dates, please post them for others to see! I think this might give those waiting for their MINI an idea of what they might be able to expect. After I have enough responses, I will put together a little analysis and post the results. I will update the summary as more results are posted.

1. Placed order on May 31, 2005
2. June 10, 2005, received production number
3. Finished on July 5, 2005
4. Booked on the Islode on July 7th, scheduled to dock in NY/NJ on July 15.
5. My car was bumped from the Islode and booked on the Maersk Tide. The Maersk Tide left Southampton the July 12th and scheduled to dock in NJ/NY on July 20.
6. July 19th. Received email from MINI USA regrading my programable options which my dealer (PRESTIGE MINI ) did not do jack squat about .
7. Discharged from the Maersk Tide on July 21th.
8. I get "the call" on July 25th.
9. Take delivery on July 28th 2005.

 

May 15th: Went to dealer as 4 MINIs that were given as bonuses are driven off the truck. I then say, w/o asking a price, said I want that one. It was EB/W. We went inside, put down the reservation payment, and specked out the few changes I wanted.
May 17th. My MINI with a fresh UJ roof was delivered to my driveway!
