Driving lights-Bolts instead of rivits.

Has any one used bolts, lock washers and nuts instead of rivits? Are there any risks with going that route?

Thanks,
William

The rivets are used on the OEM brackets. Rock solid

I have bolts on the fogs. They do loosen up. But, you also want to be able to adjust them. I can't adjust (I dont see how) the driving lights. A little bit of locktite will do the trick Just used the one that is not permanent.

The deal with the brackets is you are drilling into the plastic grill as well as the thin metal on the bottom there is no way to put a nut and bolt. Thats why the rivits. Do your lay out of the brackets and you will see what I mean.

Hmm. I used nuts and bolts with no problems. It was a little tricky, but nothing unusual.

That is kind of what I did, but I did it the other way around; nut on bottom.

I stand corrected. The rivits done correctly don't show from the outside.

That's whats cool about the Mini. It is all personal preference. Everyone has the perfect Mini for them. There is no other car on the market like it.

I used rivets on the grill and nuts/bolts on the bonnet, only because the brackets didn't quite reach the underside of the bonnet and rivets wouldn't have worked. I guess they changed the underside of the bonnet slightly for '06?
