A study in body roll (MINIs, Miatae, etc)
A study in body roll (MINIs, Miatae, etc)
Here are a few pictures from a recent track event that show some varying degrees of body roll. Most of the photos are of the same corner, and all the cars are similar in speed, as the course is really tight so the high HP cars are not able to get moving that much faster than the little cars.
First, my Cooper with the JCW suspension upgrade, sports suspension front swaybar, and Helix rear swaybar on soft:

MCS with PSS9 coilovers and lots of other goodies (different turn, though):

A Miata with coilovers and really heavy springs:

Stock Miata suspension:

Spec Miata (fast time of the day, and an example of hitting the apex in that turn just right):

R-package Miata:

Camaro:

M3 (at a different turn, with a little extra lean thanks to bouncing off the curbing):

Golf with full cage and lots of suspension work:

I don't know if that picture was from before the rear swaybar was disconnected or not.

funny how miatas get MUCH easier to drive (and a LOT more fun, IMHO) with a rather small rear bar....
if you ever look at any of the typical sway bar packages, the rear bars are huge. Going back to a stock rear toothpick - i mean sway bar - made my old turbo 95 so much easier to drive, and offered much more traction.
