Rally in the Valley, Penticton
Rally in the Valley, Penticton
Rally in the Valley is an All British Field Meet in Penticton, BC June 30-July 2, 2006. This year there is a class for BMW MINI which means there are more than 5 of us attending. That is great as, to my knowledge, I am the only MINI to ever attend and it was lonely.
Several of us are meeting at Exit 99 eastbound on Hwy #1 on Friday, June 30 at 9 AM. We plan to go Hope-Princeton and leave at 9:15 and will have a mixture of older British cars as well as new MINIs. This will keep our speed down somewhat and increase gas mileage. It is a beautiful drive and the owners of the older cars are great people so it will also broaden our horizons as well. Bring your 2 way radios.
We will arrive in plenty of time for the Friday night dinner. The new MINIs are also meeting up with a group grom Alberta. I'm still working on where and when.
Entry is capped at 225 so if you are interested go to www.obcc.ca/ritv.htm

Unless plans change, I'm going to be leaving N. Delta (Greater Vancouver area) at 1:30pm on Friday. Unless plans change, I should hit Guildford Towncentre in Surrey before 2:00pm and head out towards Hope from there. Is anybody else planning to leave the Vancouver area in the afternoon and would like to drive up to Penticton as a group? I was thinking we could meet at Guildford.
If nobody chimes in, I might just bypass Guildford and head straight for HWY1 via Langley.
This is the possibility that my plans might change as my wife's work schedule and mine is kind of variable right now.

Please bring a two-way radio if you have one, so we can keep in touch. We will be on Channel 7, sub-channel 21.
I have a location for the MINIs to meet to drive into town, or just have some cool pictures taken:
Munson Mountain Park, just north of Penticton sounds like a neat place to visit. There is a large Penticton sign (a la Hollywood) and a great view. From Summerland on Hwy 97, you can see the Penticton sign. I figure we will meet in the paved parking lot at about 3:30 PM on Friday, June 30, 2006, and drive into town. I realize that most people would have already checked into their hotels already and will have to go out of town again, but I think it will still make for some fun photos. (I am pretty sure I can get the pictures in a magazine.)
Dinner Friday, for those not registered for the Friday night eats at the show: I have made reservations at http://www.josespepperclubcafe.com/menuback.htmlfor 7 PM. Let me know who is coming, please.
Thanks
Kathy

2 for Jose Pepper Club - good food, party atmosphere!
And if anyone is looking for somewhere fun for Saturday night, I highly recommend The Lost Moose Lodge - way, way,way up Carmi in the burn area from the Garnet Fire (and built from rescued logs from same fire). Excellent food: steak, burger, prawns and ribs etc, fabulous view of Penticton and the valley, eat in or out, electric train that circles the top of the restaurant. And for those that want to party - there is a shuttle service to and from town. Reservations a must for dinner. Menu and map online.
