R50/53 New Rear View Mirror
I got sick of rubber necking to use my Fisher-Price rear view mirrror, and bought a 13" one from AutoSport.com and had a local glass company put it on with adhesive.
My visibility is vastly improved, and it doesn't look that rigged!

One could always opt for a Wink mirror.... I have used them in the past and once used to them they are very good....

Interesting mod.
At first, I also thought the rearview mirror was a little too small. After driving the car for some time now (8 months and ~13K sMiles) I have gotten quite used to the size. As a matter of fact, I have realized that if it were larger the increased viewing area would simply include the rear pillars (not more road) because I can easily see the entire rear window (and therefore as much rearward-view as possible) with the current mirror.
Another item worth noting, is that it is important to properly adjust the sideview mirrors. Most people tend to look at the side of their car in these mirrors more than beside (and behind) their car. Pushing them out a bit further is better for visibility.
So, I guess I'm curious if you actually did get a bigger rear viewing area, because it doesn't seem that the car shape would lend itself to much more... :???:

I do see the rear pillars, and I can see out the rear side windows also. It's almost fish eye-like because of how much you see. It's not the coolest analogy I can think of, but it reminds me of these how the school bus driver could see us smoking herb in the bus, and about every car for about 4 blocks behind us too!
I feel a lot more in touch with the road now that I can see it better. The cost of the mod was about 25 bucks for the mirror, and 20 bucks for the install. A pretty cheap safety improvement is you ask me, and I feel more to push the limits while driving.
