My wife and I will be driving out to the USGP this year and I wanted to know if anyone else was planning on doing the same? I had a ton of fun on the caravan down to MODT a earlier this month - it would be nice to do the same for the USGP.

Right now, I'm planning on leaving Saturday morning and being at the track by 9AM and 10AM in order to see some of the F1 practice laps. I'd be willing to leave earlier if others wanted to.

This is the schedule of events taking place that weekend at Indy.

11:30-12:10pm Porsche Supercup qualifying #2
1-2:00pm Formula One qualifying
2:30-3pm Formula BMW race #1 (14 laps)
3:30-4:10pm Porsche Supercup race #1 (16 laps)
4:45-5:45pm Indy Pro Series race (25 laps)

SUNDAY, JULY 2, 2006
6 am Gates Open
9:30-10am Formula BMW race #2 (14 laps)
10:25-11am Porsche Supercup race #2 (16 laps)
11:45-12:15pm Formula One Grid Presentation
1-2:30pm United States Grand Prix (73 laps)

A little over one month to go before race day

 

I'm heading down on Saturday also. If you're driving through Hammond then down I-65 I'll caravan down there with you. I'm meeting friends there and camping in the Coke lot.

 

Camping sounds fun -- we're probably going to stay with friends who live outside of Indy. We'll be going down I-65 so this might work.

 

I'd like to be there to watch qualifying. That's noon our time, they are always an hour ahead now. How early did you want to leave? I'm also planning on meeting up with the local Mini club for a cookout after the Saturday track events. Check out their site below. (Don't follow those directions)

Steve, Ken, Matt and myself will be driving down on Friday night to Indy. We'll also be attending the D&R event Saturday night.

 

Gabe - Maybe I'll see you guys down there - I'll keep an eye out for those new rims you're sporting ;-)

Cliff and I will be meeting at 8AM in Hammond on Saturday. If anyone wants to drive down with us PM one of us.

I've signed up for the MINI cruise on Saturday and the 9 am police escort on Sunday. BTW - the 9 am escort is all that's left to register for.

 

We'll be at the track until the last Porsche crashes...err crosses the line so we'll miss the escort Saturday. However we will be at D&R that night.
