Pilot Sports?

What do you guys think about the Michelin Pilot Sport tires?
The reason I ask is that a friend works for them and gets deals that he is allowed to pass to friends and family (only so many per year) and never uses his allotment so he called me when these came up on the list.

He is going to get me a set of 4 245-40ZR17 dirt cheap and I can't pass up the price.

I have run GY Eagle GS-D3's and now the Kuhmo Ecsta's (can't remember the exact ones) and love them.

How owuld you rate the Pilot Sports?

thanks!

chris

The PS2's get a good rating at Tire Rack: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....place=0#Survey

Think he can get some 205-40 18's?

The new Road & Track has a story about 2006 Corvette with a twin turbo Lingenfelter package that makes about 725hp and rides on Pilot Sports.

I had a set of Pilot sports on a previous vette I owned.. They are not the most agressive performance tire... but they do almost everything well... They were very good in the wet and very quiet... Michelin makes a great tire... for all out performance... there are better choices... for everyday use... you won't be dissappointed..

I had the prior Pilot Sports too, thought they were pretty good - pretty grippy and quiet as you say. I understand the new PS2s are better then the older ones though, so maybe they are the best of all worlds now for a street tire..

245's are a pretty wide tire for the MINI and you'll have to watch the wheel offset. Be prepared to do some surgery on the fenderwell.

Pilot sports are great tires. it's like the german version of the S03's but
slightly softer sidewall. grip is fantastic.

You mention the pS2's but these are the regular Pilot Sports, not the PS2's...

When I looked at the tread pattern on the PS2 from the regular PS I was dissappointed. Please keep in mind I know nothing about tires other than my driving experience with several different types...

Oh and by the way they were snatched up before he could clikc on thebuy option so no dice this time around.

He now has my cc on file in his contacts list so that if something like that comes up again he will just do the purchase and have them sent to my house.... worse case scenario I will get my money back selling them on the open market to probably doubling my money (yes, that good of a deal!)
