Twin Charge Kits, Are They Safe?

LOOKS VERY TEMPTING BUT HOW SAFE WILL THE MOTER BE WITH THESE KITS? AND IS THE FACTORY WARRANTY GONE AS WELL?

Given that you can easily double the power output w/ a twincharge kit...yes, your warranty will be blown to bits.

If you keep the boost at a conservative lvl you should be ok, anymore you'll need to do some motor work. No such thing as easy hp!

First. The Caps Lock is to the left of the A Button. Second, if you keep the boost at a conservative level, as per Barnabas, you should be fine. Third, this mod is not for the faint of heart. Fourth, What Warranty? :p Oh, if it says it's a bolt on, 99.999999999% of the time it is NOT

To answer your first question... YES! the KIT is safe. It's the human factor that becomes an issue.

Second, warrenty is still good....so what it comes down to is your dealer....althought I dont' take it there much...when I do it has been no problem to get things done...but again...from what I have heard...the AZ dealer is not like other ones...they accually know that if the failier was due to the mod....etc etc

I also agree with Maximusmini that this mod is not for everyone. Although for the most part it is the #1 bolt on you can do bang for buck....it can suprise you and then things can go wrong...I have never had a problem...and drive my car as a daily with it's 340 WHP. That does require 100 octane or better though...which to me....eh so what. it's too much fun

Chris-
Does it require 100 to run safely, or for maximum performance. Can you run 91 in it without problems??

Also is Hubie still in Phoenix?? I may be coming into a significatn $$$ in the next 3-6 months and have already informed my family/accountant(aka my wife) that I am twin-charging with either the Helix or SPI kit. Can you PM me or post here your thoughts, and how best to contact you and Hubie?

Thanks man, and we got to get together some time soon!

A friend of mine, Bryan, took his car in for warranty work on his flywheel, and he has the SPI kit. They wouldnt warrantee the engine though, but the drivetrain was still good...

I'm seriously thinking of doing the Helix one.
since I never heard of any problems with it.

The Alta is too new to consider and
heard a few negatives on the SPI.

can anyone elaborate a bit more
I'm looking to do this in the next month or so.

regards,
Charles

The Helix has an electronic boost controller, which is sweet, and I'm pretty sure they have a water injection option, which is also trick. I personally would favor it based on specs and word of mouth, though admittedly I've never ridden in or driven one.

I'm pretty sure the system has been around for more than 2 years. I doubt you'll see much in a month or two that will change your mind. I'd strongly urge anybody who's thinking of going twincharge, turbokompressor, etc to call Eric at Helix and talk to him.

Also, if anybody wants to come to Western PA they're welcome to a sphincter-puckering ride in my '02 Turbokompressor beast.

What are your 0-60 times and does it modulate well ie partial throttle?

I don't have a way to measure 0-60 times. Launching can be an issue with the amount of power I have.

There is a little bit of surging at or around 0 pounds of pressure. On boost or in vacuum is very smooth, tho.

Unfortunately, I'm about 4.25 hours west of Philly and won't be able to go to the Dragon this year.

Ripper, Eric has a TurboKompressor Mini. Ask him for a ride. If it's anything like the demo ride he gave me in my Mini you'd better bring extra skivvies!
