Antenna connection for portable Nav unit

This question concerns a 2006 MCS with just the stock head unit with single disk CD. (no Nav - no sattelite radio)

If I understand correctly, the standard radio antenna also includes the antenna for the factory navigation. If we use a portable Nav unit that has a connection for an external antenna, is there a way to get a connection to the factory Nav antenna?

Thanks for any information.

Do you currently have the portable nav unit? The reason I ask is there doesn't seem to be too much of a problem with portable units getting a signal.

tis true in typical mounting spots. however i am contemplating relocating the unit to a more obscure location than on the windscreen. trial runs don't like where i've put it so far.
