power differnces

Hi all!

I joined this fine forum about 2 weeks ago and would like to know if you guys could answer a couple of my questions. My apologies if they have been discussed in another thread.

What are the whp numbers for a stock 2006 mini cooper s manual versus an auto? I was wondering the differences between the two and power lost through the drivetrain.

Also, with that, what are some quarter mile times you are all putting down.

Thanks!

Tyler

hahah, yeah, except the car isn't mine. My girlfriend owns the mini and she had to get an auto.

If you are woried about 1/4 mile times you had better stick with the 6 speed manual and learn to power shift! OOPS my bad. kinda late

If you are worried about 1/4 mile times you shoulda (she shoulda) got a different car

As you probably know every engine is going to vary - and they can vary quite a bit - you never can know if someone else's number will be accurate for you. Also take the weight of the car, tires, etc into consideration when trying to determine/compare numbers. A big stumbling block to determining the power of the MCSa by the way, is that the software will not let you hold it past the redline (6.2k or so) so until someone comes up with aftermarket software to override that it is impossible to dyno correctly.

Anyway, have fun with it

she shoulda got a manual =P . lol and it doesn't matter if she only drives auto.. you can teach her how to drive a stick!

...then it'll give you excuse to drive it more than her

I know this car shines in the cornering area, but I was just curious about the power to the wheel differences.

Its ~ a 12% driveline loss for the manual, while i have heard of as much as a 25% driveline loss for the auto.
