Sacramento Autorama, Feb. 11, 12, & 13, 2006
Sacramento Autorama, Feb. 11, 12, & 13, 2006
NOTE: The dates in the title are incorrect. It should read Feb 10, 11, & 12. (In other words, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.)
The Autorama claims to be the 2nd longest running indoor car show in the world. It's mainly hot rods and other custom cars and trucks. I don't know if there will be any MINIs there, and if there are, they'll probably be extremely modded!
Tickets are $16 for adults, $12 seniors (62+), $8 for kids 6-12, and free for kids under 5. (Hmmm - sounds like 5-year olds won't be admitted. Or maybe they just have to pay adult prices?) Add another 7 bucks - ouch! - for parking.
Prices are kind of steep, especially if you aren't into hot rods. (Add in a few $5 hot dogs and $8 cups of beer, and we'll have to pull our daughter out of college!) To make the prices a little easier to swallow, Les Schwab tire stores have coupons for a $2 discount off admission. We got ours yesterday.
More information on the show is at:

My wife and I are planning to go on Saturday afternoon. I'm aware there's an East Bay run planned for the same day, but some very good friends of ours - Captain and the Diva - are playing on the stage in Building D from 3pm to 9pm on Saturday, so we're doing the Autorama. They're a local cover band - you might have heard them at the Folsom Hotel, where they usually play one weekend a month. Great music! (And if anyone's interested, the Beer Dawgs are playing Friday and Sunday.)
Maybe we'll see you there? I'll be wearing my BRG Motor Swag T-shirt:

I had written off the East Bay run, thinking it was the same day. Now I'll have to reconsider...
Thanks, Rob!
