Want to put a protective clear bra on the mini. To protect the finish from rock chips. But also want to add bonnet stripes. Which go on first. I think the bra first?

Bra first, then stripes.

Yeah, my dealer puts the bra on first. I wanted stripes and didn't like how they looked on top of the bra. So I went braless and now I've got some rock chips. Oh, well. I got the touch-up paint and periodically work on the bonnet. I realize that the car is not going to stay perfect unless it stays in the garage.

There are a couple of reasons to put the bra down first.

1) if you stripe first, there may be little airbubbles that show up at the edges of the stripes under the bra. The installer that did mine here in denver said they had had this problem before. They encountered it again when they tried to put the clearbra down on my car. So I told them in advance, if that happened, to remove my stripes.

2) If you clearbra first, it makes changing your stripes more easy down the line (i.e. a year from now).

Also, getting custom vinyl stripes is cheap. I paid $30 for materials and $45 for installation of some nice custom stripes once my clear bra was on .

Dave is correct - the bra goes down first for primarly the reasons he mentions. I've talked with Invisishield and Stone-Guard and I know both of their products work with the adhesive of the bonnet stripes. You may want to double check with the manufacturer of your bra just to be sure you will not have any issues.

Dave, who did the installation for you in Denver? I'm near Boulder.
Would you recommend using him vs. dealer?
