Just got rear-ended.

I just got rear ended last night. I recieved some damage. The exhaust got slightly tweaked. I am considering replacing it with a higher preformance exhaust but am concerned that it may void my dealer warranty. Any thoughts or comments on this. By the way... the Mini is a pretty tough little car. The other car suffered lots of damage which was a later model Mercedes.

Sh$%%t! That gets me. I know how you feel, believe me. But it WILL be fixed good as new! Maybe better, if you get an upgraded exhaust, etc.

Sorry about the accident, although it doesn't look all that bad. As for the aftermarket exhaust, I don't think you will have a problem with your warranty. As with any other mods you do, they can only void your warranty if the problem is directly related to what you changed. I would go ahead and do it now while the car is in the shop.

Probably talking on a cell phone, or looking at the nav system.

Actual, the guy was not paying attention. I saw the whole thing in slow motion through the rearview mirror. Unfortunately I had nowhere to go otherwise I would of moved out of the way. From now on I will make sure I have enough space to get out.

Sorry to hear it.
Sounds like quite a few MINIs getting rear ended lately. Not surprising considering the number of folks here that complain about folks following too close also. Hope all gets back to normal.
Interesting that we have seen a few similar photos of pretty decent licks to the boot, and I think the rear glass has held up pretty well. There are many vehicles, if you were to hit the rear like that, would also shatter the glass.

Ack - what an awful story. You shouldn't have any problem with the exhaust hurting the warranty, though. The dealer would have to blame the exhaust for whatever went wrong, and there's really nothing they can blame on the exhaust. If your valves get messed up or your clutch was installed wrong they can't say the exhaust had anything to do with it.

Of course, now you'll get the Modding bug and your car will slowly transform! It's happened from smaller incidednts - there was a whole thread a while back about people who got the bug just from replacing the radio antenna!

Sorry again about the car

Sorry to hear about your accident

Dont forget to ask your insurance company about an aftermarket exhaust... They have been known to be cheaper than the stock ones

I feel you're pain, I just got my MCS back after I was rear-ended by a big truck. I was without it for 44 days and it was miserable. Sorry to see this happen to ya.

i am so sorry to see that, it breaks my heart, been there. Don't worry about the aftermarket catback, it should not do anything to your warranty, never heard it before. Good Luck

Go with Miltek, she'll never know, its quiet enough and also provides great power.

That's interesting! How much do they charge for the stock ones, anyway? If mirror caps are $85 a piece, seems like an exhaust should go for at least $2500 or so.
