Interior/Exterior How do you remove the front bumper?
How do you remove the front bumper?
Forgive me, I've never really done any sort of car mod before.
I want to install a replacement car horn, and I gather that to do that I'm going to need to take off the front bumper. Me and my friend are working on it but aren't really sure exactly what to unscrew, etc.
So far we've unscrewed the two top screws and unplugged all those tabs across the top, and we've taken a front wheel off to access another screw toward the top-backside of the bumper, but aren't sure where to go from here.
Thanks in advance!

Removing the front bumper is pretty straightforward. I had to remove it when I installed my aero grill. I used the instructions from motoringfile.com:

The instructions include the removal of the front bumper. Here is the text:
Hope this helps.

Removing the front bumper cover….
I jacked my MINI up and put it on jack stands so that I could remove the tires. This not only gives you more room to remove the bumper cover, but I cleaned the brake dust off and gave them a good wax before I installed them….
To jack…I used my shop jack. Look under the car and about center point, you will see the body molding protruding downwards. I placed a 2x4, about 2 ft long under that part, to give the car stability. Used the two “jack points” to put jack stands under to keep the car stationary. Repeat on the other side…….
Removing the bumper cover is straight forward. The hex head bolts accessible from the front wheel wells are 8mm, the center three fasteners which attach the bottom of the cover to the bumper are 10mm, and the outer two are Phillips. The top two bolts are TORX T30. As you remove these, keep a hand on the cover as it is only held by a couple of plastic tabs. When you have the cover free, pull it out enough to get to the lighting wires. These are the basic twist on attached and will allow you to completely remove the cover.

When I'd take my bumper cover off I'd leave the tires on, there is plenty of room when using a 1/4 rachet. I also put a pblanket on the ground to help protect the bumper cover while removing it. Never too much protecting when working around that fragile paint. BTW the 2 bolts by the front wheels to take off are the ones facing up, not forward.
This is very helpful and has pictures

While your swapping the horns you might want to swap to a better fog light bulb too.
I know I am.
