Gauge Mounting Idea/Questions

Thanks to DarkMinis' great write-up on the Autometer boost gauge install, I now have a boost gauge sitting just left of the tach - it looks and works great, the Autometer Ultra-Lites look an awful lot like the stock gauges.

Well, now the gauge bug has bit. What I would really like to do is mount a couple of Autometer Ultra-Lite 2 5/8 " or 2 1/16" gauges, probably oil temp. and water temp., between the interior pillars under the toggles. I would like something similar to the oem gauges that mount in the same location, but really prefer the look of the Autometers and being able to choose what gauges I want. Has anyone done this or have any suggestions? That hole there seems like an ideal location for a couple of gauges.

I have done what you are looking to do as well as many others here on NAM I am sure. The easiest way is to buy the panel only from Mini and then add the Autometer gages which you are interested in. I added a volt meter due to my audio system and a temp gage as I hate the fakeys in the mini. The panel should cost about $ 45. You could go cheeper and get a generic one but the one from mini fits perfectly. If you have any other questions feel free to Pm me.

Here is the panel from Out Motoring. Cost $35.95

Description from Out Motoring:

This dual pod guage panel is a perfect match for your MINI's interior, fitting right behind the cig litter and the two "cup holders". Not only does it fit just right, it looks just right too. Simply add your selected 2 1/16" gauges and wire them up and enjoy! For the best selection in gauges go to SummitRacing.com and search the VDO line or the AutoMeter line, both have great options. Fits both MINI Cooper and Cooper S.

Thanks guys! I did not realize you could buy the panel alone and fill it with your own gauges. Alot simpler than trying to fabricate something.
