Engine Check light/Cat-back exhaust

Could not find a post on this already:
When I picked up my MC Saturday I asked the service advisor their feeling on after market cat-back exhausts and he said he has seen problems with the engine check light coming on with after market exhausts – any truth that this is a constant problem?

Never heard of that one. Perhaps an attempt at persuading you not to go after market?

I have heard of this more than once - especially the newer software versions which seem much more sensitive to differences. Something about O2 sensor faults.

I don't think you would have issues with that if you do a cat back exhaust. Now if you do a header, that may cause issues with the SES light. No such issues with my Rspeed exhaust on my 2003 Cooper.
