I'd hate to buy one of last "old" connectors. Has anybody gotten any new info on the new OEM iPod connector? Any word on the release date? Better yet - has anybody gotten one installed?

I've been reading all of the threads on this subject... just wanted to see if there's anything new on this subject...

I haven't been able to confirm any news about this *new* adaptor.

Last I read somewhere is that it won't support id text tags..

 

I've had the iPod interface from BMW/MINI for almost one year, and the only thing missing is ID Text Tag... and the option to not charge the iPod, since iPod have a limited charge time ( 350 to 500 before the battery starts to die)

My old iPod's battery died very fast after 3 years... In 2 months, it has died and couldn't play one single song before it would shut off... The only downside to th eamazing iPod!

 

What kind or iPod generation you have?

 

My sister just bought a Honda and got the Music Link. It's brand new.

iPod goes in the glove box and it's UI goes away. What was impressive was that they mapped the 6 preset buttons to the menus of the iPod. So as she pulled away from the dealership she was able to use the 6 presets + her steering wheel controls to navigate around her music pretty quickly. She has said nothing about the text-to-speech; maybe her car doesn't support it?

Could the new BMW/MINI iPod adapter be something more like this? Less about fixed playlists and more about giving better ways to navigate around your music?

It does seem that most or all of the reviewer's complaints were related to the text-to-speech software. He does not describe using it without the software.
