NorCal - Who's going to Las Vegas, March 23-26, 2006??

Hey, are we going to caravan to Vegas like we did last year ???

I just book a room in the ghetto at the Palace Station. I really like the mystery brown and green(??) stains on the carpet, the missing door **** on the inside of the bathroom, the cigarette burn marks on the furniture in a non-smoking room and lets not forget the ever popular, crowd pleasing, ROCKING TOILET !!!
No fancy tower room for me, no sir! We can get a group discount on the needed shots when we come back:impatient .

Lets start planning. So, who's going??

Keith

Keith you crack me up! I was laughing the entire time I read your post. Janet and I will be leaving on Tuesday morning (we may go different routes)... we haven't decided the routes yet (I may join the group in Tahoe... Janet straight down I-5), but I want to do it in one day. Is Ann going? Are you bringing both cars? We will be staying in the Tower rooms like last year, so I am only imagining what the "ghetto" rooms were like.

We have an on-going discussion on the REME MegaBBS for days of departure and routes... please join in on our discussions. I think we have groups leaving Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Hi Keith,

Greg and I are going. We are trying to go as a group like last year.
Are you in for Thursday?

I hear they referbed the ghetto.

I see I can not fix my error in the title so I must live with it.

Keith,Carol,Peter,....I have the last two weeks of March off from the P.O.,,so I can pick and choose my departure date..The Ghetto was redone. Hope the weather is OK to come through Tahoe as a Group. Last year was a round about route for me. Nevada hiway 95 will drop us right into Vegas and the Hotel Exit, A more direct way to get there for Me. Still do not know how many SierraNevadaMinis will be going, the list keeps changing. Glenn

Sandie,
Peter and Glenn pretty well summed it up. I'm voting for the Tahoe route (weather permiting) and am planning on leaving Tuesday and make a 2 day trip to get there. Also not leaving until Monday but will be going back thru Bakersfield to get home. I was in the Tower last year and will be again this year. Anyone else attending the Phil Wicks Driving Academy on Saturday the 25th?....I did in Dec at Laguna Seca it it was a blast. Left quite a bit a rubber from my 2 week old Goodyear F-1's (no runflats) but it was well worth it. A little pricey ($300) but for all day, 5-6 20min sessions with instructors and to go as fast as your heart will let you.......... If all else fails, I know that there is a meet up in Fresno (Midcal and Norcal's) on Thursday AM like last year.
More details to follow as we get closer.

Sandie, Willum, Glenn & All,

We hope to leave on Tuesday and stay through Monday. I'm planning on the Tahoe run, unless weather is bad. I want to caravan down, so keep us posted. I'd like to try the Phil Wicks school.

Hey all, I'll be driving to Bakersfield on Wednesday evening to visit with family and crash for the night. I'll hit the road in the morning on Thursday. Maybe I'll be able to catch up to some of you on the way. We'll have to set up a channel on the two ways closer to departure. See ya'll soon.

I had a look at the rooms formerly known as ghetto and they are pretty nice now. Well worth the cost. That said, the views from the tower rooms are great, and they're only another $20 per night for Friday and Saturday.
The courtyard rooms go for $199 a night during NASCAR weekend btw. But then, I could probably get $200 a night for a queen sized air-matress in my garage during NASCAR weekend. 8)

I knew I was in trouble when she had NO CLUE what a MINI was Then the "suits" had a disscussion with her and she never came back .

Okay, lets see hear.

As of now, we will be leaving from Denny's, hwy.99 and olive, same place as last year, btw. 9-9:30am. I will be there around 8-8:30 to eat.

Anyone driving down the night before that wants to get together for dinner, let me know.

We should hit Bakersfield at around 11-11:30am. We will stop at 58 and Weedpatch hwy. just like last year, to get fuel, restroom, and meet any of the Bakersfield area Mini's. From there we head to Barstow to meet up with the L.A. bunch. I will find out where they are meeting up. For the Laughlin run we met at Denny's, on 15, just south of 58. It had a big parking lot, worked great. From there on to Vegas.

J.J., BEER, and Escorts, what more could you ask for.

Except for a bunch on crazy people in MINI'S

Yes there are. I know last year, Zied from REMA stayed next door. I think it was the Travel Lodge. I will drive over and see what I can find, and let you know.
