Navigation & Audio question about connecting a sub...
question about connecting a sub...
So this weekend I'm going to connect my sub with a "RCA Line Output Converter" from the back speakers... I mean that is fairly easy...
What I don't know is where do I connect the power on/off cable from the sub/amp so that I can be turn on and off when I turn on and off my radio.
Oh I have the factory system non hk...
Thanks alot...!

One more question
....
Lets say I connect the "RCA Line Output Converter" to the right or left rear speaker. would it affect the sound on the speaker?
or should I connect it to both? rear speakers?
thanks

Could you link us to this converter you're talking about?
Are you using an amp + sub, or a powered sub? As far as I know, most subs can't take RCA's, but amps can.
Power *should* come from the battery regardless of which of the above...

here is also a pic

well I have both a power sub and a nonpower sub with an amp... i just dont know if an amp will be too much...
well the power will come from the battery but you dont want the sub to stay on while the car is off...
most aftermarket units have a cable usually black that controls the power on the amps attached to it... I wonder of the mini factory radio has that...
so you can connect an amp to your factory radio without cutting or splicing any wires.
Thinking back to my old install, I do believe I had 2 amps directly connected to the battery, and no remote for them, and never had a dead battery. And I do recall seeing the power meter on the camaro dip during heavy bass hits, but was fine otherwise.
I'm not an car audio guru by any sense. I've had my last 3 installs done by shops, though I'm doing my Mini install myself... But I wonder how much power amps draw under no load.
