Cabrio S Spare

Probably a dumb question, but has anyone thought of mounting a spare tire on the rear drop-down gate?

sounds like a "continental kit" from the 1950s

And you can't put a continental kit on a MINI since England's not on the continent. But Germany is. . .hmmm, tough call.

Just make sure it's got a big chrome ring around it!!

"Spare tire" in my cabrio is a pair of pilars (to get the nail out), a small air compressor, and a can of gunk.

No, don't have the runflats...

You talking inside or outside?

Full size tire, or compact spare? I would think a full size wheel and tire would be too large and heavy for the gate.
The gate says there is a 75 lb limit, but I don't think that is for a load that is on it constantly.

I think he must be talking about mounting it on the outside. I have a compact spare from a Cooper, and it will not fit inside the boot upright, while still allowing operation of the top. It gets in the way of the shelf for the rear glass.

Cabrio S Spare

I bought a donut and had a black nylon carry bag made for it, and keep it behind passenger seat.

Actually, it says it is a 176 lb limit. I don't think you could efficiently mount a spare on the rear and have the boot open unless it was sticking out quite a bit.

Although butt ugly, it would go to increasing weight at the rear .
And where would the third stop light and license plate go?
Best bet is a mobility kit if you need non-runflats.
