SIRIUS Radio and AUX Input cutting out. GLI needed?
Okay.....heres the deal. I installed Sirius Radio into my ladies MCS this past weekend. It is a starmate replay unit. I installed the OEM AUX Input into the back of her non-HK headunit and was good to go. The sirius unit is powered by the cigarette lighter. Unit worked perfect for a day or so, including her ipod (no power adapter), then the AUX input would just start cutting out when the Sirius is on. It will switch to CD and then not allow her to go back to AUX.
I have done some research into this issue and it appears the lone solution is to install the ground loop isolator (GLI). This is no big deal as i can run to radio shack tonite and pick that up along with a Y-adapter cable. Also, what Y adapter would you use? The GLI from RS has two male RCA adapters comming from it, i would need a dual female to male minijack cable or adapter and I have yet to see these. However my question is, what if i hardwired the Sirius unit. What if i didnt use the cigarette lighter all together.
If i was to say, clip off the cigarette lighter adapter from the Sirius power adapter and then ran those two lines (power and ground) to a add-a-circuit and a ground source would that solve this issue totally without the need for a GLI?
I'd like to pass on the GLI option as it would added un-neeeded clutter, though i would conceal it well, and it would also get rid of the cigarette lighter adapter.
Suggestions are welcomed.
Thanks,
Steve

I have the same problem with my XM Roady. Works for a while, then disappears. I have been to the dealership twice and they can't figure it out...the radio won't act up when I am there.
Never fails, as soon as I pull out of the parking lot...it's gone. I will be interested to see if anyone has solved this problem.

Well from what i have read, the Ground Loop Isolator will fix the issue. But i would rather hardwire the power line then use the cigarette adapter. Considering this whole derives from the DC power source, i hope this might solve it.
