better learn to deal with it, your not gonna get rid of it unless you put some very quiet mufflers on it.

the poping sound its just going to happen, until you muffle the sound. every car does it, you just cant hear it becasue the exhaust systems muffle it.

Most people like the popping sound after chaning out the header and putting an exhaust on, it sounds meaner.

Seems to me...

you didn't do much research before you bought your car and had upgrades installed. It's common knowledge the mcs gets that great popping sound right off the lot and it's also common knowledge the upgrade of the exhaust you got does the same. What were you thinking?

You get rid of it by buying the standard Cooper. Mine doesn't pop at all. Wished it did though.

I believe on the MiniUSA forums, it was determined that the popping sound was 'engineered' into the Mini, because the old Mini's used to do it, and that it is a 'feature'.

wow
this is a first... i have never seen anyone complaining about the popping noise!
everyone including me seems to like it...

but in any case... like (not-so-rednwhitecooper) said is very hard unless you put on some very quiet mufflers... and i think the price for all of it will be alot more than to stand the noise...

good luck with that
haha

That's just the sound of your Mini grumbling when it has to slow down...

A good resonator will improve things...

But it won't eliminate it.
But it's just a fact of engine dynamics. When I first got my mustang, it has 18" glasspacks. Downshifting into second sounded like shotguns going off! I would set off car alarms, and my Mom knew when I was coming buy a minute or so before I got to her house.

I'll gladly take your pipe and header off your hands. I wish mine was louder.

I think you could "fix" it with a good tune. You'd need access to the entire fuel map though, something most of our bandaid tuning options can't do.

Yep old Mini's with a leaking exhaust popped & farted a lot. I'm just glad the oil leaks, barking syncros & intermintent electrical system weren't engineered into our new MINI's. I personally like the popping though.

Not true! My MC burbles plenty. Of course, I didn't hear it much until I started trying aftermarket exhausts. I recently removed the resonator from my RSpeed catback - even better.

So has anyone else suggested, just STAY on the GAS?

Me too . There's nothing like the sound of a Ferrari with an exhaust (or stock for that matter).

The MCS makes some of the sweetest sounds. The supercharger whine and the exhaust burble make it completely unique to any other car I've heard. I love to be sitting on the side of the road and hear a MINI coming hard up through Deals Gap. You know it's a MINI before you ever see it.

Or earplugs
Like most others here I LOVE the burbble, pop burbble. I've got a magnaflow & soon I'll have a header too. Can't get enough of the sound.

Go for the stock exhaust. Either get rid of the Miltek or aquire an additional resonator. That should calm it down, but won't eliminate it. Its one of MINI's charms
